It'd be hard to top a name like his daddy's got, but this one comes close: Waylon Albert "Blackjack" Jennings. Not to be confused with his father's full name, Waylon Albright "Shooter" Jennings. Shooter, 31, as the Southern rock singer is called, and his wife, 39-year-old Sopranos actress Drea de Matteo gave birth to their second child, a little boy, Thursday.
He was born into a family that probably has about the most colorful bunch of names I have ever seen. In the world of parents trying to outdo one another in the original name department, the de Matteo Shooter Jenningses win hands down.
Blackjack joins his sister, Alabama Gypsy Rose, who is 3. Another kickass name. I'd love to get a look at their baby book collection.
From their name choices to their appearance, this family just exudes cool. Even the way their outfits at left come together, a collection of greys, oranges, blacks and leopard print, rock hard — and you know they are too cool to even plan something like that.
Yup, this is going to be some cool little dude, his awesome lineage notwithstanding. Blackjack is grandchild of the late country singing great Waylon Jennings and his songstress grandma Jessi Colter.
With they nickname him Black? Or Jack? Or BJ? I don't know and it doesn't matter. All are winners, and with a both a name and a legacy like that, I'm sure this kid's gonna be playing a guitar before he can walk. And, when he's older, something also tells me you might want to steer clear of his table at the casino.
Jennings has hinted that this may not be the last of his herd, that he wants lots of kids. Sounds like even more badass baby names are in everyone's future!
