We've all heard our fair share of strange baby namesmom was left speechless when her friend shared the truly unusual name that one of her friends had just used. They were both stunned and this mama just couldn't let it go. So, she went on the Netmums forum to bounce the name off of others and asked, is this "the strangest baby name ever?" Turns out that it just might be according to the feedback….
User Annalise D riled people up when she shared the name that a new mom used: Abcde.
"I was talking to my friend whose friend just had a baby," Annalise wrote on Netmums. "The baby's name is spelt: Abcde."
Yup, like the beginning of the alphabet.
"And pronounced" Ab-si-dee," she clarified.
It turns out that she isn't the only one having a strong reaction to this easy-to-spell name.
Annalise continues to ask the other forum users, "I've never heard of this name before — has anyone else?"
Although almost no one had heard the name before, many moms thought the name was either a joke or that the name was just plain terrible.
One mom even said that the name was so bad it should be "illegal."
While other moms couldn't help but start cracking jokes.
I'm fond of "el-em-en-oh-pee" myself.
And although others admit it's strange, the still give mom credit for her creativity.
Some people can find the silver lining in anything and at least it's easy to spell!
But despite how crazy you might think the name is, Abcde actually has gained some popularity recently.
The name sprung to popular attention when a 7-year-old girl with autism, who had the unusual moniker, made national news after she wasn't allowed to meet a mall Santa because of her service pitbull.
And The Name Lady concludes that while Abcde tends to be popular in Hawaiian and Latino families, it may not be the best choice because no matter how much mom and dad like it, the name "sounds fake." Just think about every poor guy whose real name is John Doe, she argued.
Fake or not, we have to say that this is one of the most unusual names that we've heard in a while!
