This Couple’s Private Plane Gender Reveal Is Seriously Over-the-Top

There are gender reveals and then there are gender reveals, ones which bring things to a whole other level*.* Take the way that one Texas couple, Brad and Rachel Reed, decided to announce the gender of their third child on July 8. The pair asked a friend who had a crop plane if he would get in on the surprise, and the result was completely over-the-top, in the best way.

The idea was sparked when Brad and his friend, David Sykes, came up with the plan to use his plane in a unique way.

According to Fox News, Rachel and Brad first learned that they were pregnant with baby number thee in April but, at the urging of friends and family, decided to hold off on finding out the gender so they could do something much bigger.

The couple have two older children, Brayson, 6, and Brelann, 18 months. And originally, the couple wasn't thinking about doing something so extreme. "We weren’t going to do a gender reveal because we’re busy with work and everything, but our family was so disappointed because we had a Mexican fiesta themed one for Brexlann."  But once they made up their minds to go big or go home, Brad and his friend David Sykes came up with a plan that truly had some lift.

David, an aerial crop duster, would use his crop plane to release either pink or blue dye as he flew in front of Sunray Airport. The couple could invite friends and family to the airport runway, where they could watch the big reveal as a group.

Neither Brad nor Rachel knew what to expect on the big day.

About a week before the party, the couple got a letter from the hospital that had the gender written inside, but they didn't peek. “When the hospital sent us our letter, we gave it straight to David," Brad said.

In the video of their big reveal, both Rachel and Brad seem excited that they're about to learn the gender of their baby. When a friend who was taking footage of the event asked Brad what he guessed the baby would be, Brad answered, "don't have a clue."

Mom Rachel was a little bit more willing to venture a guess. "I think girl, but I don't know," she said.

Finally, it was the moment they had all been waiting for. David fired up his plane and, as he sprayed the sky, the crowd cheered. It was pink!

Brad and Rachel's friends and families cheered when the drop was made, but not everyone was thrilled.

“My son wasn’t so excited at the prospect of another sister. He had been praying for a brother I’m sure," Rachel told Fox News.

And Brad added that his grandmother, Margaret Reed, was disappointed too, but only because she wanted more boys to carry on the family name. "Brayson is the only one," Brad said.

Their baby girl is due January 22 and the couple already have the name picked out!

"Her name will be Brynlee Faith Reed. I’m Brad and my brother is Brent, and my kids are Brayson and Brexlee so [BR- names are] a family tradition," Brad said.

“All of our babies have been born in January too. Everyone jokes that our breeding season is in April and our calving season is January," Rachel joked.

The couple's friend Greg Wright remarked that though he never understood before why gender reveals have become so elaborate, he admits that watching his friends have their own big reveal changed his mind. "It was a really fun day."

However, Greg said a big gender reveal would not have been his choice for his own children."I don't think I could have handled the suspense."
