Dad Refuses to Cook Any More Dinners for His 4 Kids & Parents Are Applauding Him

As any parent who is in charge of feeding their little monsters knows, it is damn near impossible to keep straight what everyone's food preferences are. As kids change in what they are or are DEFINITELY NOT willing to eat, sometimes it can be hard to remember if your daughter is still going through a texture phase and if you're allowed to serve tomato sauce on your toddler's spaghetti. Well, one dad on the Internet has had enough of all of this nonsense and has come up with a genius solution: He's officially done making his kids dinner.

The fed-up dad shared on Reddit the whole saga of how he officially decided that the kitchen is closed.

In the post made by BabyHooey, the dad of four shared why he was completely DONE with being the one to try to make a meal out of all his children's picky tastes and food restrictions.

"I just retired from cooking," he wrote. "I used to love cooking, and I'm good at it (according to objective others, not just myself). Kids have become so picky that there are literally no meals left that I can make without someone complaining."

Thanks to his kids' various eating habits, chicken, cheese, wheat products, sausage, and tacos are all ruled out — just to name a few. "So tonight, I was standing in the grocery store feeling stupid. Like there's an entire store full of food, and I'm able to buy anything in the store within reason, and yet somebody will complain about anything I make," he wrote. "And that's why, in the middle of that grocery store, I decided to retire from cooking for the family."

BabyHooey continued that he decided to go home "with assorted ingredients" and "told the kids we will still provide food but it will now be their responsibility to prepare it for themselves and feed themselves with it."

At first he was expecting his kids to protest, but after about half an hour "they decided I really wasn't cooking dinner and they actually started feeding themselves."

"One kid made a turkey and cheese sandwich, one made peanut butter and jelly. The one with Celiac decided to make herself and her sister some noodle soup with rice noodles, chicken stock, and veggies," he explained.

Although BabyHooey admitted that these weren't the most nutritional choices, you can always tell when the IDGAF wins out. "I guess we'll address that as it comes up," he added.

Kids need to learn that parents aren't an "unending labor resource," someone added.

However, some people weren't sure how exactly this all would work.

Between extracurriculars, homework, chores, and school "how do they find time to prepare a meal?"

"I've insisted, up to this point, that family dinner is non-negotiable time," BabyHooey answered. "And schedules are expected to accommodate this (with occasional exceptions as appropriate)."

But the dad did admit that now that they were exploring his little experiment, "this is a variable that I may have to consider further."

And someone else wants to know if BabyHooey will continue to cook meals for his wife.

"That's the plan!" he said. And the dad actually seems pretty psyched to only have to cook for two. "I'm hoping to revisit some dishes my wife and I loved but that I had abandoned because the kids didn't."

But some haters are doubtful that the dad's protest would last.

But BabyHooey was undeterred. "I'm determined to make a go of it," he said, "even if I have to make the only available ingredients things like meat and vegetables. My plan is to give it a few days and see where we're at; I figure nobody will die of scurvy in the first week."

Now, online users are dying to see what happens.
