Wife Gets Best Revenge on ‘Lazy’ Husband By Sending Him to Grocery Store With a Fake List

Here's the thing: I don't like playing into gender stereotypes. But if there's one thing that curiously seems to unite the men of the world, it's this: They are at a complete and utter loss once they step foot into a grocery store. (Seriously, what is UP with that??) Karen Alpert, of the popular parenting humor blog Baby Sideburns, knows this all too well. Which is why when her husband recently got on her nerves, she decided to pull a little prank on him — by sending him to the grocery store alone with a fake, yet masterfully creative grocery list.

MUHAHAHAHAHA.

In her Facebook post last weekend, Alpert vented some of her annoyance, as well as the inspiration behind her revenge.

"OMG my hubby has been lying on the couch all morning while I’m doing sooooo much stuff," she wrote to her 339K Facebook fans. "So I finally got super annoyed and send him to the grocery store with a special shopping list. And yes I turned my ringer off."

G-E-N-I-U-S.

The list included such choice products as "unsour cream," "fat-free hummus," and "3% milk." It also was sure to give super specific instructions like getting the Wheat Thins "in the blue box" and something called Diet Diet Coke, which "you might have to ask for because it's new."

Needless to say, Alpert's post had women everywhere cry-laughing over how subtly absurd -- and brilliant -- the whole thing was.

"This is gold," wrote one Facebook user, while another chimed in with, "So funny. I’m going to borrow that list."

"The thing is, my husband calls me no matter what I send him for, every time," wrote another woman. "Part of what makes this funny!"

All told, the post has racked up 63K likes so far, and more than 13K comments — many of which were wives tagging their husbands for a laugh.

"This is how I feel every time you ask me to go to the grocery store alone," wrote one husband, in a comment to his wife.

Imagining her husband wandering the grocery aisles in total and utter confusion is perhaps the funniest part of it all. (Even if it is a tad cruel.)

But hey, them's the breaks! (And I'm willing to bet that he's used to it, after being married to such a funny woman for so many years.)

"I am seriously invested in knowing what he came back with …" wrote one user. And honestly? So am I. Did he text her every three minutes in a panic over not being able to find it all? Did he send her photos of the grocery store shelves, begging for assistance?

My guess is, probably. But it was undoubtedly worth the laughs in the end.
