Horrified Mom Finds Stranger Bathing Her 2-Year-Old in the Middle of the Night

A mother from Columbus, Ohio, is still reeling from a bizarre incident that happened late last week. Areica Hill was horrified when she awoke in he middle of the night to find an intruder giving her 2-year-old son a bath. "I’ve never heard of anything like this,” Hill told NBC4 as she recalled the upsetting tale, which has even baffled authorities.

Hill said it was the sounds of a dog barking early Wednesday morning that sprung her from a sound sleep.

She told NBC4 that the noise was particularly alarming because her family doesn't own a dog. But when she went to investigate the sound, she was absolutely stunned by what she found.

"I get up and I walk to my door and the way my house is set up, I can look down the hall,” Hill recalled. “I see a white female lady, bent over the tub, with my 2-year-old in the tub.”

The intruder was later identified as 22-year-old Elizabeth Hixon, who claimed she was only trying to "help."

Hill said she wrestled her child away from Hixton, and her boyfriend held the woman in place until police could arrive.

Once on the scene, police promptly arrested Hixton and charged her with burglary. However, an affidavit filed in Franklin County Municipal Court stated that Hixton insisted she had good intentions for her bizarre actions.

“Ms. Hixon stated that she entered the residence, to provide care to a juvenile, which was outside the residence," the document read.

Hixton's mother apparently came to her daughter's defense too, saying that her heart was in the right place.

The boy's mother isn't convinced. Hill is deeply troubled by Hixton's actions and plans to follow this case as it progresses.

“I would like to see other charges filed against her,” Hill said.

Prosecutors have yet to receive the full case file from police, but once they do, they can determine what additional charges need to be filed, if any. Meanwhile, Hixton has posted bond and awaits further contact from the court.
