We're joining Kim (aka wntg1grl), a stay-at-home mom of three who's expecting twins, on her exciting journey from bump-to-babies. Check back every week for the latest developments.
Week 30 & 31
What's Happening with Mom:
In week 30, I was concerned about the lack of movement I've been feeling. I just kept thinking that with two of them, I should be feeling much more. I called the doctor and they sent me to the hospital for a non-stress test.
I was there for 3 hours…both babies were moving so much that they couldn't even get the 20-minute tape for each one, so they finally sent me home. It was weird hearing them move on the monitor, but barely feeling anything. Needless to say, I was relieved.
When I went to my OB appointment last week, I was FINALLY above the 200lbs mark…202. Most women would cringe at this, but I was at 210lbs with my last two sons, so I was expecting it so much earlier than now…I am almost 8 months with twins. At 31 weeks, I measured 38cm, so babies have slowed their growth a little bit. I also found out that I have a yeast infection. Never had that before, but I have taken my perscriptions and feel good.
I now will be going to the hospital for an ultrasound and NST two times a week starting at week 32. That just makes it more clear that I am going ot have two babies…and soon!
Another highlight of my week was getting the greatest diaper bag from another mom on CM. We did a Secret Stork in my Due in February group! I am so thankful. Now I just need to pack it up!
What's Happening with Babies:
Our little arms and legs are getting pudgier by the day and our immune system is getting stronger so we can fight off those big bad germs once we're born.
Question of the Week from Answers:
I went today for my 30 week checkup and the doctor said I need to watch my weight. I have gained 21 lbs. I thought I was doing good but I guess not! Last pregnancy I gained a total of 37 lbs and had a 7lb 10oz baby. Where are you mommies at on your weight gain, have you experienced anything similar? — anonymous
beanerbecky: At 31 weeks I had already gained 38 lbs. I gained a total of 57. My doctor was telling me to watch my weight most of my pregnancy. My baby weighed 8 lbs 12 oz.
They say 3-5 lbs in the first trimester and about a pound a week after that. So at 30 weeks, 21 pounds is perfect unless you started your pregnancy overweight. If you were already overweight then you wouldn't need to gain as much.
