Moms all over the world do more than most people may consider. They literally create the world we live in and fill it with human beings. They also do everything else they put their minds to because moms are fierce, organized, and unstoppable when they set their minds to any task. With moms, a little love goes a long way.
Moms are women with careers, dreams and talents beyond giving birth, and sometimes the world overlooks those things. Whether the goal is a corporate takeover, domestic bliss, or saving the world, moms can handle it while doing their best to raise good humans. They all possess undisputed multitasking, unwavering determination skills, and, on occasion, superhuman strength. In short, moms are amazing. Here is a list of amazing moms who changed the world.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg
This mother of two was appointed by President Bill Clinton as a justice of the Supreme Court. Ruth Bader Ginsburg was only the second woman to be appointed to that post. She spent her life in the pursuit of women’s equality and served as general counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union. "Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you," she said. She died in September 2020 but leaves behind a legacy that touched countless people throughout the years she fought for justice.
Dolores Huerta
Mom to 11, Dolores Huerta is a Mexican American civil rights activist who, along with Cesar Chavez, founded what became the United Farm Workers of America. She’s always been a leader and advocate for workers, immigrants and women. Dolores is the woman behind the phrase, “Si, se puede.”
Marie Curie
Scientist Marie Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, doing pioneer work on radioactivity. She also earned a second Nobel Prize, this one in chemistry. She did all that while raising her two young girls alone after her husband was killed in an accident. Single moms really are superheroes.
Michelle Obama
Former First Lady Michelle Obama, mom to two daughters, used her time in the White House to change the lives of children across the country with her efforts to make healthy food options affordable and available to all children. She also passed the Hunger-Free Kids Act.
Anna Jarvis
After losing nine of her 13 children, Ann Jarvis was a social activist and community leader during the Civil War. She wanted to help other moms and organized Mother's Day Work Clubs to help impoverished mothers. She inspired the movement that made Mother’s Day into a national holiday and celebrates all mothers.
Princess Diana
Diana, Princess of Wales, was a mom of two boys and a humanitarian. "The People's Princess" used her princess status to work with various charities that supported children’s hospitals and is still revered by many today. She died in a car accident in 1997.
Hillary Clinton
Mom of Chelsea, Hillary Clinton was the first female presidential nominee for a major political party in the United States. To add to an already impressive resume, she was also a lawyer, first lady of the United States, a US senator and secretary of state. The ways in which she has changed the world and shaped US history will be felt for years.
Alberta Williams King
Alberta Williams King was a mother of three, including civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. She played the organ and was involved with women’s groups and the NAACP. She wanted to raise good humans with a sense of self-respect, and taught them that segregation was not natural order. She made it clear to her children that she was against segregation and refused to raise them to feel inferior to anyone.

Single mom Maria Eitel is chairman and founding CEO of the Nike Foundation, as well as founding CEO and chairman of the Girl Effect, which helps girls in poverty. She is a strong advocate of girl power and is committed to changing the world by inspiring girls.
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter
Mom of three, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is a force of nature. Not only is she a game-changer in the music industry, but she's also a political activist and an advocate for women and equal rights. She is also a fierce champion for Black culture and has empowered countless women — and men — to live life as fiercely as she does. She is the change she wants to see in the world to make it a better place for all children.
Harriet Tubman
Harriet Tubman was born into slavery but escaped as an adult and rescued 70 other people over the course of 13 missions using the Underground Railroad. She also served as a scout and spy for the Union during the Civil War. Harriet Tubman, a mother of one, was an abolitionist, political activist, and American heroine.
Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou was a mom, an American poet, memoirist, writer, director and civil rights activist. She worked alongside Martin Luther King Jr. She was a highly respected spokesperson for Black people and women, known especially for her literary work. She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama in 2010.

Sooinn Lee is the CEO and co-founder of Enuma. This mom’s education company is committed to supporting children with special needs, who are often overlooked and ignored by the education industry. This talented game designer was inspired by her son’s special needs diagnosis to create a way to help her son and others with special needs become independent learners.

Shannon Watts
Shannon Watts is the founder of Moms Demand Action, a nonpartisan organization devoted to advocating for common-sense gun laws. Mom of five, Watts formed the organization after the shootings 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary School that killed 26 teachers and students to ensure that never happens to any other children.
