‘The Names Are Corny’: Couple Brutally Trolled Over Names They Chose for Their Triplets

My cousin was the first person to warn me that you shouldn’t share the names of your children with people before they’re born. People have a tendency to want to share their opinions on the name you may have chosen. They want to tell you the horrible person they knew who shared the same name. They’ll let you know whether they like the name you’ve chosen or not. You get the gist.

If you want to name your child without feedback from the peanut gallery, keep it to yourself. One couple didn’t follow this advice and they’re catching a bit of flak for the names they’re giving to the triplets they’re expecting early next year.

The couple explained the significance behind each name.

Rachel and Jordan Flom, who live in Nashville, Tennessee, shared that not only are they welcoming triplet boys next year, they also revealed what they planned to name the boys: Locklan, Wilder, and Brisbane, after the Australian city.

Jordan explained that he chose the name because he lived there for six months. They also shared the significance behind the other two names. “Locklan means from the lands of lakes. I’m from Minnesota,” Jordan explained. Wilder comes from the couple's connection to the town of Wilder, Minnesota.

The couple didn't know if Brisbane was a name given to a person before or not.

Brisbane seems to be the name causing the most controversy. Jordan said he wasn’t sure if it was a name before but he and Rachel are “making it one.” He also shared that Brisbane will share a middle name with his father, which is Leigh. They even said they might call him "Bris," for short. If we're being honest though, that actually just reminds of Jewish circumcision and baby naming ceremony, which is a called a bris.

Whether the name has been given to an actual person before or not, it does have a meaning. The couple looked the word up and found that Brisbane means “breaking of bones.” Jordan said it might mean that the little boy could be an athlete, Jordan joked.

The couple said they're not changing the names.

Rachel and Jordan invited their YouTube followers to share their opinions on the names and asked them to tell them which one was their favorite. But they don’t plan on taking anyone's thoughts too seriously.

“If you don’t like the names, well, we’re not changing it,” Jordan said. “They’re locked in, we made banners.”

'Bring back people choosing normal names,' one user wrote.

Still, people were eager to share.

“Bring back people choosing normal names,” one user wrote.

Another person chimed in: “All the names are corny. Who watches these cheesy people?”

"Some people just shouldn’t name children," another Instagram comment reads. "These are human beings who will have to spend their entire lives with these names, they aren’t pets who will never care or understand the origin of a name they respond to for treats."

"Wishing you all the best- but I can’t believe you’re gonna make these boys grow up with those names," someone else wrote. "That’s horrible."

Someone thought another Australian city would make for a better name. “Melbourne would have been better,” someone else wrote, perhaps sarcastically.
