A Missouri teacher accused of having sex with a student is on house arrest until her sentencing on October 11. Hailey Clifton-Carmack entered a plea deal in Pulaski County Court, opting to plead guilty to a single count of sexual contact with a student, in exchange for the court dropping charges of statutory rape, child molestation, and child endangerment.
Police reportedly busted Clifton-Carmack, who worked for the Laquey R-5 School district, after allegations of her affair and photographic evidence began to circulate.

Clifton-Carmack reportedly acted inappropriately with students.
Per court documents obtained by Inside Edition, an unnamed witness told police Clifton-Carmack dressed provocatively for school and often showed her body off to students. The witness also told police that the teacher spoke about her personal life in class and had previous trouble with the administration for being “too close with students.”
The victim's father allegedly knew of the affair.
Mark Creighton, 37, the victim’s father, allegedly knew about his son’s affair with the teacher and did nothing to stop it, according to the witness. He reportedly allowed the teacher to come to his home. He allegedly admitted that he’d rather allow it than have them see each other behind his back. Police arrested the father in connection with the case in January 2024, and he pleaded guilty to knowledge of the affair, per KJLU. He awaits sentencing.
Clinton-Carmack initially cooperated with the police.
Per court documents, when approached by police in December 2023, she complied. “Hailey handed over her phone with no issues and did not have the normal behavior of someone facing the same accusations,” police said in the report.
After reviewing the phone, police reportedly found “a conversation between her and the confidential victim discussing their relationship.”
She was reportedly not employed at the time of her arrest.
Per KMIZ ,Laquey R-5 Superintendent Kent Stoumbaugh said in statement that Clifton-Carmack left her job in early December.
“We have been made aware of criminal charges being filed against an employee for alleged misconduct. We understand that charges are not the same as a conviction and the employee is to be considered innocent until proven guilty. We must stress, however, that the alleged misconduct is inexcusable and does not meet the professional standards for district employees. The district took immediate action once we were aware of this situation. An investigation is ongoing. The employee has not been in the district since December 8, 2023, and we do not anticipate her return. We strive to ensure that every individual is treated with respect, kindness and fairness, so that all feel safe, secure and welcomed in our schools,” the statement reads.
