I’m a Lazy Stay-At-Home Mom & Honestly, I’m Not Ashamed

Being a stay-at-home mom is hard. Trust us. We've been there. There are no vacations. Shoot, we don’t even get a couple of hours off. You must be on 24/7, which can be absolutely exhausting, mentally and physically. You are a mom, a cook, an entertainer, a teacher, a lifeguard, and even a doctor sometimes. And for many of us, we are expected to be the maid, too. Sometimes it is too much to deal with.

We really can't do it all, and some things fall by the wayside. And that could be different for every family. Don't like laundry? It probably piles up. Don't want to do the dishes? Things might sit in the sink. How do you feel about taking out the trash? That may be a low priority, too. This is life for many moms, and thankfully, some moms on social media are trying to normalize that for all of us.

Are you just lazy if you can't get it all finished in one day?

Sure, some say yes. There are always those perfect moms on social media that totally have their lives together, and their hair is perfect, their teeth are super straight and white, and their kids never have any stains on their clothes. But is that real? Maybe, but maybe not. TikToker Amanda Rose calls herself a "lazy stay-at-home mom." But is she really lazy, or just realistic? We investigated.

Yep, things are kind of crazy at her house.

Amanda Rose has a series of videos that show her "lazy life." There is a video dedicated to laundry, and she makes some points that resonate with many moms. First, she puts clean clothes on the couch because she thinks it will force her to fold them. Then the family just sits on them. She adds that they may pick an outfit straight from the dryer if they want clean clothes.

And then — we have to admit — this was our favorite: "Sometimes I will forget that I will even do a load of laundry, and it will sit in my washer for two days, and I'll have to rerun it."

Same, girl, same.

And lots of other people agreed.

"You make me feel like this is a shame-free place and I need that, thank you ❤️," someone commented.

"I am convinced there are strangers living in my house because the laundry is never ending!" another person wrote. "So happy that there are realistic households ♡."

But it isn't just laundry. Amanda Rose gets real about dishes, too.

She explains in another video that she wakes up to a mess most days. After cooking dinner, Amanda Rose doesn't want to clean up the dishes. So she doesn't. Some people may be grossed out at the thought of food left out overnight. If you are one of those people, do the dishes at night. If you're not, don't. A mom's kitchen should be a judgment-free zone.

"There's many days I have a mom tantrum about having to do dishes again ," a mom wrote.

Another mom had a suggestions: "Girl get paper dishes. That's what I do so I don't have to clena all the time I rather throw money in the trash lo."

"I used to be like this," someone else admitted. "And sometimes the old habits come back. I feel you Girl. It's rough."

Amanda Rose is keeping it real, and she has a sense of humor, too.

"One of my favorite hobbies has always been picking up messes that I didn't make, so I became a mom. And now I get to enjoy my hobby every single day," she said sarcastically on TikTok, and we can totally relate.

"Literally and it's so enjoyable that I get to do it all day every day ," a mom wrote.

Someone gave this sage advice: "Just tell your kids to clean after them selves."

Hmm, they must be new.

A dad got in on the action, too. "I told my husband and his response was 'Mmhmm that's why I became a dad…paying for s— I didn't break'" ," someone wrote.

We love that Amanda Rose makes other moms feel seen.

And it isn't just mornings. Amanda Rose hits that nighttime routine right on the head, too. She throws her hair in a bun and says, "Here is everything I get done before my kids go to bed." The next thing we see, she is zonked out on the couch with a cozy blanket. Yep, she is exhausted and ready to check out. It is so, so relatable.

"I love it here," a mom wrote. "U make me feel normal ."

People get her.

Another comment reads, "Sleep more important than tidying ❤️❤️❤️."

And for some, it was really simple. "Peridot"

At times, motherhood can seem like a thankless job. Sure, kids reward us in ways that don't come with a big paycheck, and it is totally worth it, but a little relief sometimes would be nice, too.

And hey, Judgey McJudgerson, keep the comments about how we handle it all to yourself. Some of us are just barely hanging on here. But our kids are loved and, most of the time, have on clean clothes and even get a toaster waffle for breakfast every now and then. That's enough. We're all enough.
