What would you do if you accidentally invited all 487 contacts in your phone to your kid's birthday party? One California mom had to seriously think about that. Emily King, a mom in San Jose, posted a video on TikTok revealing that she had accidentally imported all of her phone's contacts into the digital invitation she had made for her daughter's first birthday party.

King, who is 20 weeks pregnant, wanted to get a jump on planning for her daughter's June birthday party. "I was really excited — because I am 20 weeks pregnant, I wanted the day to be all about my daughter," she told Today.com. She planned to invite 50 people with the assumption that 35 would attend. When it came to the guest list, she was able to import guests from her previous parties, but a few people were missing. So she selected the option to import her contacts from her phone. And that's when she realized everyone from her contacts had been invited.
King explained that once she noticed the mistake, she deleted the invite, but the damage was done. "All the blood drained from my body," she explained. The list of people spanned 15 years of her life, including a woman whose car she hit in a Trader Joe's parking lot and all of her exes, complete with identifying emojis. "I am a very social person, and I … never delete my contacts," she explained.
Evite, the company King used to create the invitation, revealed that they've added a new function thanks to King's mishap. "Emily’s journey inspired something we call the 'Emily Hotfix' that removes the 'Select All' function on iOS apps," Olivia Pollock, Evite’s senior director of brand marketing, told Today.com. "We’re always learning from our users, and hope this update is a help for other users too." She also revealed that they gifted King and her husband a $250 DoorDash gift card to help with the party.
