Boys: The top boy names for Alabama, Alaska, and Arizona are ones we've seen on several popular baby names lists. It's no surprise to see William in the top spot in Alabama and Liam for Alaska and Arizona.
Girls: The top girl names for these states are all different from each other, but they're all top overall names: Ava, Emma, and Olivia, respectively.
Arkansas, California, and Colorado
Boys: For these states, the top boy names are all different, but they're still popular names: William, Noah, and Liam.
Girls: For Arkansas, California, and Colorado, the top girl names have been popular for quite some time. In order, the top names for these states are Olivia, Olivia, and Charlotte.
Connecticut, Delaware, and District of Columbia
Boys: The most popular names for these areas are ones we've seen before and are pretty consistently on the top of baby name lists. This year's most popular are Liam, Noah, and William for District of Columbia.
Girls: For the girls from Connecticut, Delaware, and the District of Columbia, they've got some of the most popular names we've had for girls for quite some time. In order, the names in these states are Olivia, Emma, and Olivia.
Florida, Georgia, and Hawaii
Boys: Florida and Georgia are on the same page when it comes to those states' favorite boy's name of Liam. According to BabyNameWizard, Liam means "resolute protector," which is a strong choice for little boys. For Hawaii, Noah was its top name.
Girls: The most popular girls names of these states are all different. For Florida, they loved Emma, Georgia has Ava as its top name, and Hawaii loved Olivia.
Idaho, Illinois, and Indiana
Boys: For these three states, there were several repeats we've seen in the other states, including Oliver, Noah, and Liam. There's a reason these names are on this list over and over – they're also some of the years most popular names as well.
Girls: For these three states, Idaho was feeling the name Emma, whereas both Illinois and Indiana favored the very popular name Olivia. That name, according to BabyNameWizard, is named after the olive tree, which is often tied to peace and unity.
Iowa, Kansas, and Kentucky
Boys: Two of these states found out they see eye-to-eye when it comes to the most popular name for boys, and the other agreed with Idaho. Iowa loved Oliver, and the other two states put Liam on top.
Girls: For these states, none of them had the same most popular name, and thanks to Kentucky, a new name entered the ranks. It was Charlotte for Iowa, Olivia for Kansas, and Amelia for Kentucky.
Louisiana, Maine, and Maryland
Boys: No surprises here for Louisiana, Maine, and Maryland, whose favorite names for boys in 2019 were Noah, Oliver, and Liam, which, according to BabyNameWizard has been on an exponential rise over the past few years.
Girls: No surprises on the girl names that are the most popular with these states because we've heard these before. In order for the states in terms of top favorite girl name of 2019 were Olivia, Charlotte, and then back to Olivia again.
Massachusetts, Michigan, and Minnesota
Boys: Although many of the other states had common top boy names for 2019, both Massachusetts and Minnesota went a different route for the year. Benjamin was the top name for Massachusetts, Michigan went with the common name Noah, and Minnesota preferred the classic name Henry.
Girls: The same wasn't true for the girl names for these states, though. All three agreed that the most popular baby name for these is Olivia.
Mississippi, Missouri, and Montana
Boys: Mississippi had the top boy name that was fit for a royal with its top pick, William. Liam was the top pick with Mississippi, and Oliver was the name of choice for Missouri, which is a first on this top list for 2019.
Girls: Mississippi had the favorite name of Ava, whereas Olivia and Emma were the top picks for the other two states.
Nebraska, Nevada, and New Hampshire
Boys: Nebraska loved the name Oliver as well, which is interesting because the girl counter to that name Olivia, has been so frequent on the list for girls. Nevada was big on the name Liam, and Benjamin was the top pick for New Hampshire, which has been a name that's been around for a long time.
Girls: Again, the name inspired by unity and peace, Olivia, is the top girl name for Nebraska. Nevada favored the name Sophia, and New Hampshire preferred the name Charlotte for girls, which is derived from the strong boy's name Charles.
New Jersey, New Mexico, and New York
Boys: There were no surprises for these three states and their favorite boy name. All three of them polled as preferring Liam, which we've seen in several other states as well.
Girls: The top girls names were a touch more varied, but nothing that hasn't already been a favorite of several other states. Emma was New Jersey's choice, New Mexico loved the name Ava, and New York loved Olivia.
North Carolina, North Dakota, and Ohio
Boys: Once again, all three states had the same top baby boy name which was, once again, Liam. Given how many times we've seen this name, it should likely come as no surprise that Liam, overall, was the top boys name of 2019.
Girls: Ava, Amelia, and Olivia are the names that North Carolina, North Dakota, and Ohio have collectively favored as top girl names.
Oklahoma, Oregon, and Pennsylvania
Boys: Two of the states between Oklahoma, Oregon, and Pennsylvania loved the name Liam as well and one preferred the boy version of the most popular girl's name. Liam, Oliver, and Liam once again was the order.
Girls: As if it wasn't obvious that Olivia was the top girl name of 2019, all three of these states also had the same top girl name for little girls born in 2019.
Rhode Island, South Carolina, and South Dakota
Boys: Noah, which means "rest" or "comfort" according to BabyNameWizard, was the 2019 top pick for Rhode Island, and South Carolina and South Dakota preferred the names William and Liam.
Girls: Charlotte, which has been rising in popularity over the past several years, was the sixth most popular girls name for 2019 and in Rhode Island, whereas parents in the other two states loved the names Olivia and Emma.
Tennessee, Texas, and Utah
Boys: Tennessee parents went with the classic name William, which landed the top name spot for the 2019 year. Liam was a favorite for Texas as well, and Utah favored the name Oliver.
Girls: Ava, which follows the cute short trend for girls, was the top choice for Tennessee parents who welcomed a little girl. Emma was the top girl name pick for Texas, and Utah went with the overwhelming majority that enjoys the name Olivia.
Vermont, Virginia, and Washington
Boys: Oliver has been on the top boy name by states on this list several times, and parents in Vermont feel the same way. For Virginia and Washington, both those states went with the top boy name of the year: Liam.
Girls: Surprisingly, there's one girl name that stands on its own because we haven't seen it as the top name for any other state. For Vermont, its top girl name was Harper, which landed at the top ninth spot overall in the year. In Virginia and Washington, they preferred the names Ava and Olivia.
West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming
Boys: To solidify its spot at the top boys name of the year, Liam was also the top boys name in 2019 for West Virginia and Wyoming, but Wisconsin went with the name Oliver as the top spot.
Girls: The top girls names for these three states are not surprises, as they've been on the list several times already. Emma was in the top spot in West Virginia, Wisconsin went with Olivia, and Charlotte was favored in Wyoming.
