A trip to the store with your little ones can be quite the ordeal. In addition to getting them dressed and ready, you have to carry a diaper bag, snacks, and in the case of infants and newly walking toddlers, something to transport them in. Most of the time, that’s a stroller. It can all be majorly cumbersome, especially when you have to push the stroller and a shopping cart at the same time.
Thanks to the good people of TikTok, there may be an easy solution for that. Parenting influencers @thebastfamily on TikTok came up with a neat hack to make shopping with babies and toddlers a bit easier, but although some people think it's absolutely genius, others are questioning whether it's actually safe.
Evidently you can attach your stroller to a shopping cart.
A new video, shared on both TikTok and Instagram, describes itself as a parenting hack you wish you knew sooner. In it, a father, pushing a stroller in one hand and a cart in the other, realizes he can make his life easier.
The caption for the video reads, “You can attach your stroller to the shopping cart.”
The father lifts the front wheels of the stroller and hooks them in front of the back axle of the shopping cart.
Just one push moves the stroller and the cart.
Now, he can push the stroller and move both the baby and the basket at the same time in one motion. It seems simple and ingenious.
Some parents appreciated the "genius" tip, whereas others lamented the fact that they saw this video a little too late.
“Are you kidding?! This would have saved me so much,” one mom wrote.
Some people thought the hack was 'trash.'
Comments praising the hack were overshadowed by those who simply were not impressed. Many wondered how you’d be able to turn the carts in aisles with the stroller connected.
It's a valid question.
Baby gear expert and social media influencer Jamie Grayson came across the post on Instagram, and warned of the damage it could cause to the stroller. “Stop promoting this trash. It’s dangerous and will wreck your stroller — and because this is improper use, the manufacturer will not fix it,” he commented.
"This seems extremely dangerous and could cause major damage to the stroller," another person agreed. "Glad I'm past the baby phase with my kids and don't have to try things like this."
Would you try it?
As with any parenting tip or trick, everything is not for everybody. We all just need to use our best judgment and do what works for us and our kids. We're sure someone will give this a try and it'll end up making their errands with their children a bit easier.
Others might find themselves overwhelmed by the prospect of not being able to turn corners, and some may be concerned about safety. Either way, this hack could make for an experiment and an interesting discussion.
