‘Accidents Are Inevitable’: Teen May Never Walk Again After Devastating Trampoline Park Fall

Just a few weeks ago, Maggie Isble was a typical 16-year-old high school student. She loved spending time with family and friends. During her Thanksgiving break from school, Maggie went to a trampoline park in Sumner County, Tennessee, with her family. Sadly, while doing a flip, the unthinkable happened. Maggie hit her head on a concrete floor while performing the trick. The fall paralyzed the teenager, who’s now fighting for her ability to walk again. The story serves as a cautionary tale: Even the most adept tumblers can be seriously injured at establishments like these.

Maggie’s sister, Destiny Isble, told WSMV that Maggie injured herself while trying to do a backflip off a trapeze bar.

“Mid-flip, she landed head first into the foam pit and went all the way through the foam and hit her head on the concrete and broke her neck,” Destiny said.

Emergency crews first took Maggie to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Per a GoFundMe account set up for her, “She underwent surgery to remove her C5, and the medical team is unsure if she will walk again.”

Following the surgery, a transfer team took Maggie to Atlanta for spinal rehabilitation. Per her family’s Facebook page, Miracle for Maggie, the teenager has a long road ahead of her, but her faith remains strong.

“She just wants to stay in bed, and today she told the nurses she didn’t want to do PT. My heart sank a little hearing that,” her mother, Jenny Isble, wrote. “But thank God for Brandy—she gently but firmly encouraged Maggie, reminding her that even the tiniest steps forward are victories worth celebrating. I’m so grateful she was here to give Maggie that push when we couldn’t.”

Loved ones have raised more than $60,000 thus far for Maggie’s family. Her big sister, Destiny, wants others to practice the utmost caution when visiting trampoline parks.

“I would just say, just to be careful and keep an eye on your loved ones, especially if you do go to places like that, because accidents are inevitable,” she said, per WSMV.

Our hearts go out to Maggie and her parents. May they get the miracle they so desperately desire.
