Having a baby in the NICU is a stressful time for families. Not being able to be with your baby full-time, especially when they’re in such a fragile state, is hard for moms, especially. So if you have the means, you’re going to spend all of your time with your NICU baby. One woman has been using social media to track her baby’s NICU journey, and recently she came under fire for one of her livestreams.
In the stream, the woman unplugged a crucial monitor for her baby. It wasn’t by accident, the move was intentional to get attention from the nurse. Not for her baby, but for herself. The video began to get attention from other NICU moms who slammed her for her actions.

The new mom has shared her journey on social media.
New mom Allie Rae isn’t new to controversy. According to an article from YourTango, the mom once live-streamed a video where she tried to force her medical team to induce her labor early. While that may have been concerning, it got much worse.
In the video that was posted to her since-deleted social media accounts, the woman is with her daughter, who was born seven weeks early, in the NICU. While sitting with her daughter, she unplugs the baby’s pulse oximeter to get the nurse’s attention without having to leave the room.
The baby was not having a medical emergency or in any sort of distress. Allie simply wanted a soda that was out of reach, and didn’t want to put her daughter down.
The nurse handled the situation surprisingly well.

When the nurse rushed in to check on the baby, the woman assured her that nothing was wrong. She then asked for the nurse to pass her the drink. What’s worse, she does it again, the next time asking the nurse to bring a turkey sandwich.
To her credit, the nurse, who is off-camera, suggests that maybe the mom take a break from holding her baby to get something to eat. The woman protests, demanding that the nurse be the one who brings her food.

Even though Allie deleted her social media accounts, the video is still making the rounds. It has made it onto the screens of other NICU moms, and they are not pleased with her behavior.
“As a former NICU mom this is so sad…” one mom commented.
“Who even thinks to do something like that???” another person questioned.
NICU moms have been creating videos in response.
Another NICU mom made a video in response saying, “As a NICU mom, I will never understand you Allie.” In the caption, she continued saying, “Unplugging the very sensors that communicate your nicu babies well being for a sandwich… potentially taking away from a baby that truly is critical.. just wow.”
Another mom wrote in a video of her own: “Half of the time, I didn’t even feed myself or get up from the seat I was in to hold them. What a disgusting human being to do that to your own baby.”
Another TikToker reported her to CPS.
TikToker Anthony Blackwell also got involved, sharing in a video revealing that he tracked down what hospital the woman was in. He figured out that she was in Texas, and called not only the hospital to report her, but also Child Protective Services. He was told that they’re “on it,” meaning that an investigation is underway.
