What This Dad Found Hiding in His Girl’s Capri Sun Is Turning Parents’ Stomachs

Mold seems to be enemy number one for parents. They find it in sippy cups, lunch boxes, and apparently even in their kids' favorite juice drinks. Dad Cameron Hardwick of Colombus, Indiana, posted a PSA to parents that's going viral after he found what appears to be a giant chunk of mold inside a Capri Sun pouch he almost gave to his daughter.

Hardwick said his daughter asked for a sweet treat after dinner, so they grabbed a Capri Sun, but something about the pouch seemed off.

The juice pouch they picked up was thinner than the others, and when they shook it, they could hear something moving around inside.

The dad cut open the pouch and found ... a horror show, basically.

It looks like a big glob of green mold with some other unidentified object attached to it.

"To say we are irate would be an understatement," the dad wrote. "We don't give these to our children often but will NEVER again!"

Hardwick certainly isn't the first parent to find mold in a kids' juice drink.

In fact, mold happens regularly enough that the makers of Capri Sun actually mention it in the frequently asked questions on their website.

"We’re so sorry you encountered mold! It’s unpleasant, but it’s unlikely to make you or your child sick," the site reads. "Although it's rare, it is possible for food mold to grow inside containers of preservative-free juice drinks if the pouch is compromised or punctured in any way on its journey from our facilities to your grocery stores. Even if the hole is microscopic and not visibly detectable, it can be exposed to air."

The site also explains that the company created pouches with clear bottoms specifically so people can see exactly what their kids are consuming.

But that hasn't stopped people from freaking out in the comments on Hardwick's post.

People are also shaming him for giving his kids juice in the first place.

But others said it's no big deal -- just check your kid's juice before they drink it and move on with your day.
