North West’s recent performance has people talking. The 10-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West recently took the stage at a special Disney concert, and people have a lot of feelings about her participation now that videos from the show are going viral online. Even though she’s still in elementary school, North has had ample opportunities to be in the spotlight thanks to her famous parents. She is often featured on her family’s show, The Kardashians, which has shown fans her sassy personality. Since she was little, North has been a permanent pop culture fixture, and it feels like we’ve watched her grow up in the spotlight. But after her latest performance, people are questioning whether she deserves that spotlight.

She seemed to be having a good time.
North made her live performance debut over the Memorial Day weekend during Disney’s 30th anniversary concert production of the hit film The Lion King. She performed as Young Simba, singing the popular song “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King.” Clad in a furry hooded sweatshirt, shorts, and furry slippers that she chose for herself, she sang and moved across the stage, surrounded by costumed dancers.
Many people weren't into North's performance.
Shortly after the show, the performance began circulating on social media and almost immediately went viral. Many people slammed North’s performance, claiming that nepotism alone must have gotten her the part.
“Yeah this is terrible for a concert show people paid to see,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Come on the privilege shows. It looks like she didn’t even practice.”
“Many talented kids auditioned and someone with money probably paid or the casting person was a big fan of her parents,” another tweeted.
“Yeah, it's giving, my parents got me this job n I didnt even bother to practice,” someone else added.
Some people did come to North's defense.
Some people weren't bothered in the least by North snagging the role.
“Nah this is fire,” one person commented.
“Awww let the kid cook,” another tweet read.
“Listen Northie uses that nepotism to live out her dreams,” someone else wrote.

North reportedly didn't have to audition for the musical.
Insiders told the Daily Mail that North’s participation in the event, which will air on Disney+ in the future, was a result of her family’s relationship with the producers. The company that produced the special, Fulwell 73 Productions, also produces The Kardashians on Hulu.
"North didn't have to compete against anyone else and anyone else who would have auditioned would have not gotten it anyways," a source told the outlet. "The promise of the moment being shown on the show and to go and be seen everywhere was also a major selling point for having North a part of the festivities."
She did her parents proud.
Despite the critiques, both Kim and Kanye seemed to be thrilled by the way North’s performance went. The former couple were both in attendance, as were grandma Kris Jenner and Aunt Kourtney Kardashian and her husband Travis Barker. North’s younger siblings, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, were there, too.
“Kanye whipped out his phone to film as soon as she began,” a source told Us Weekly.
Kim also shared behind-the-scenes snaps to her Instagram Stories throughout the night, along with a post on her Instagram grid that appeared to show North as a lion.
