It looks like Sam Asghari has found a new gig. Sam, who was married to Britney Spears, is getting into a new game by joining the popular reality competition show The Traitors. While many people on the show are well known for being reality TV stars, Sam's better known for his marriage to Britney, whom he married in 2022. In 2023, Sam filed for divorce, and while their split seems to have been amicable, the fitness trainer and actor hasn't had much going on professionally in the months since. Could this be a grab at staying relevant?

Sam is going to compete on the upcoming season of 'The Traitors.'
Sam is set to star on the popular Peacock reality show The Traitors for its upcoming third season. The lineup was announced on June 5 by the show’s host Alan Cumming and shared on social media. Joining Sam in the Scottish castle where the show is filmed are several Real Housewives stars, along with Chrishell Stause from Selling Sunset, and Bravo’s resident bad boy, Tom Sandoval.
Could this be the next step in Sam's acting career?
Shortly after Sam filed for divorce from Britney last August, an insider told OK! Magazine that Sam was giving up his personal training career to focus on acting. At the time of the announcement, members of the acting union SAG-AFTRA were on strike, so he wasn’t actively working on anything at the time. It looks like this is a step in him focusing on his career as a performer.

Britney fans are not on board.
Knowing about Sam’s career goals, Britney Spears fans and supporters are having big reactions to his inclusion on the show.
“Wait sam asghari is britney's ex they need to murder him first night omg,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“‘Sam Asghari: Britney Spears’ Ex-Husband,’” another tweet read, referring to the title Sam was given during the announcement. “And that’s all he’ll EVER be.”
Someone else quipped: “Kudos to Sam Asghari for trying to stay relevant. I would have given up if I were him.”
Of course, people weighed in on whether Sam will be a 'traitor' or a 'faithful' on the show.
On The Traitors, the 21 contestants compete to win money from a group prize fund. Three of the contestants are chosen to be “traitors,” while the rest of the participants are considered “faithfuls.” The traitors get together nightly to decide which faithful to eliminate, while the faithfuls have to figure out who among them are the traitors. In the end, one contestant will win a lump sum of cash. Filming has already started, but there’s no premiere date set for the season.

Sam and Britney's divorce was settled in May.
Sam and Britney settled their divorce in May 2023, nine months after Sam filed for divorce. His filing came after 14 months of marriage and six years of dating. The former couple had a prenup in place, and according to the court documents obtained by People, it was upheld.
