Kevin Federline Clears Up Reports That Britney Spears & Her Sons Have Reconciled

As it turns out, those reports that Britney Spears and her boys are finally "back on track" to having a better relationship may have been a bit premature. On Wednesday, Kevin Federline — Britney's ex and the father of her two sons — issued a statement via his lawyer addressing the rumors that she and Sean Preston and Jayden James are repairing their relationship, along with an update on where they actually stand today.

Earlier this week, a source claimed Britney has been spending time with her sons.

A source claiming to be close to the family told the Daily Mail that Britney, Sean, and Jayden had been talking "for months now" and that she had even visited them in their new home state of Hawaii.

"The boys have so much love for their mother, as she does for them. Things are fully back on track and they are looking forward to the future together," the insider said.

Now, Kevin's lawyer seems to be saying the opposite.

In a statement issued to People, Kevin's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said Britney has not seen her sons in person after all.

"Obviously a reconciliation/reunification is somewhat complex and can be a process that takes some time," Kaplan's statement read. "And while Kevin supports the boys having a relationship with their mother and is glad that the boys did finally have a phone conversation with her around Mother's Day, the reports that she flew to Hawaii and met with them are inaccurate. That's just not true."

That doesn't mean things between the three of them aren't improving, though.

"And the phone call was a good sign and a step in the right direction, but it's a process that takes more than just a phone call to accomplish," Kaplan added.

Sounds like they're optimistic for the future of their relationship, but things aren't ramping up to quite the level the report claimed they were just yet.

Britney reportedly hasn't seen her kids in three years.

According to what a source told TMZ, repairing things between them might not be easy.

"Years of aberrant behavior and troubling conduct can't be easily erased," the insider said. "There's no evidence things have gotten better."

If the boys do want to see their mom, Kevin reportedly won't stand in their way.

The insider added that Kevin doesn't have a problem with it if Sean and Jayden want to spend more time with their mom, but it sounds like at this point, they aren't interested.

This situation can't be easy for Britney or her boys – especially after everything they've been through over the past decade.
