Between his feud with the royal family and his courtroom battle with British tabloids, Prince Harry is fighting multiple battles at once — and it sounds like they have a little something to do with each other. In a new interview, Harry opened up about his relationship with his family across the pond, admitting that his fight with the tabloids was "a central piece" fanning the fires of their deteriorating bonds.

Harry is opening up in a new interview.
Harry participated in the new ITV documentary, Tabloids on Trial, to discuss his very public lawsuits.
"To what extent do you think your determination to fight the tabloids destroyed the relationship with your family?" reporter Rebecca Barry asked him in the interview (via People).
Harry replied, "I think that's certainly a central piece to it. That's a hard question to answer because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the press."
He had hoped it was something he and the royals would do together.
"I've made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done. It would be nice if we did it as a family," he said. "I believe that, again, from a service standpoint and when you're in a public role, that these are the things that we should be doing for the greater good. But I'm doing this for my reasons."

The High Court recently ruled that Harry's phone was hacked by Mirror Group Newspapers.
In the interview, Harry called the ruling a "monumental victory."
"To have the judge rule in our favor was obviously huge, but for him to go as far as he did — this wasn't just the individual people. This went right up to the top. This was lawyers, this was high executives," he said.
Later, he added, "When you're vindicated, it proves that you weren't being paranoid."
He said his mom, Princess Diana, was 'probably one of the first people to be hacked.'
"And yet, still today, the press — the tabloid press — very much enjoy painting her as being paranoid," Harry said. "But she wasn't paranoid. She was absolutely right of what was happening to her, and she's not around today to find out the truth."
Harry is right. It was only in 2021 that the BBC was able to confirm that Martin Bashir, the interviewer who conducted her famous Panorama interview, forged documents that convinced Diana to agree to come on the show.
It's hard to blame Harry for how he feels.
Between the way his mother was treated by tabloids and the paparazzi, and the way he's seen wife Meghan Markle deal with similar treatment — along with what he's been through himself — it's no wonder Harry wants to fight back.
We may never know what the royals really think of his lawsuits, but it definitely doesn't seem as if they support Harry's choice to pursue them.
