Jinger Duggar Shares Rare Pic of Her Daughter as Critics Question If She Likes Being a Mom

Over the past decade, it's become clear that what we see on social media isn't necessarily the truth or the whole picture. And yet, people still want to pull out a lot of assumptions about someone based on what they share (or don't share) on social media.

For Counting On alum Jinger Duggar, that kind of speculation happens often, and most recently, critics questioned whether she enjoys motherhood.

On May 12, Jinger shared a rare photo of her second daughter, Evangeline, to her Instagram Stories.

The photo, taken by a friend of Jinger's and shared initially to her Instagram Stories, shows Jinger hugging her daughter sitting on her lap. It looks like they're at a playground, so Jinger's older daughter, Felicity, is likely off playing.

"Enjoying the little moments and making memories," the caption, written by Jinger's friend, read.

'My long weekend is off to a great start.'

When Jinger re-posted the photo to her Instagram Stories, she added, "So happy you're here!!" to the image of herself and her daughter.

They appeared dressed for the sunny weather, with Jinger wearing shorts and a T-shirt and Evangeline wearing a pink princess dress.

Jinger had her long hair tied up in a high ponytail with some sunglasses on her head, and Evangeline's loosely curled hair was down.

It's rare to see any photos of Jinger's girls since the parents decided to limit their kids' exposure to social media.

When Felicity was born (she's 4 years old now), Jinger and husband Jeremy Vuolo weren't hesitant about sharing photos of her on their social media accounts. But since they left the world of reality TV, moved to Los Angeles, and welcomed Evangeline (now 2 years old), they've been far more private about their kids' social media presence.

And while Jinger keeps her kids mainly off social media, she still posts herself, and recently critics have questioned if she's enjoying motherhood.

"Do you think Jessa or Jinger actually enjoy being parents?" the thread title read. "I have a feeling that Jessa and Jinger are kind of just on autopilot when it comes to raising their kids," the user shared. "They were expected to marry and reproduce, so they did."

The Reddit user gave props to Jinger for choosing to keep her kids off social media but explained, "it looks like Jinger is she often looks like she's forcing a smile while she goes along with Jeremy's gimmicks."

The user then posed the question to the community, and the responses were mixed.

"They've had this job for 30 years, they are just tired of it," one person replied.

"I think Jinger enjoys her kids but gets no help from Jeremy, so it's a lot for her to do alone," another shared. "He also has isolated her from her family with the book and different beliefs."

"I feel like Jinger likes being a mother, but she doesn't like being a wife," someone else speculated.

Others thought that being a parent to young kids often means being on autopilot.

"Yeah do you have kids?" one Redditor wondered. "The answer is all of it. Auto-pilot, really enjoying it to the point of tears, but also sometimes forcing a smile. Also the exhaustion is real. So all of it."

"Most parents of young toddlers are on autopilot," added another. "What is the big deal."

Honestly, speculating based on a few social media images isn't going to give a full picture.
