Fans of 19 Kids and Counting are likely to be in for a shock when the new docuseries about the controversial family's fall from grace airs. Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets producers have begun talking about what they uncovered while filming the limited series, and it sounds like a lot of it is going to be hard to hear.

Executive producers Olivia Crist and Julia Willoughby Nason are speaking out about what they uncovered.
Olivia told People magazine how her team was able to find out just "how far and wide the IBLP ideology went" while researching for their project.
"It went into our police system. It went into the military. And I think also, just how far and wide, like I said, the ideology spread," she said of the Institute in Basic Life Principles, which was founded by disgraced former minister Bill Gothard.
"You can speak to a family who is part of IBLP Australia or part of IBLP and live in Tennessee and you're going to see the same exact thing happen in terms of really just this pandemic of abuse that Gothard's teachings inhabit," she told the news outlet.
Julia said she could see the pervasiveness of the IBLP philosophies in everyday life.
She explained how "the far-reaching quality of this ideology was extremely shocking" to her, noting how "it's so ingrained in our modern-day culture present day with the political stakes of our human rights at play here."
It made it easier for Julia to identify with "the survivor stories" and "the themes of abuse and trauma."
With everything they uncovered, there was a lot that didn't make the cut.
Sadly, Olivia said there were just too many stories for all of them to make it into the special.
"I think with a four-part series like this, IBLP's been around since the '60s, and just because we wrap production doesn't mean that the stories just stop there," she explained via People. "Things continue. And the IBLP culture is incredibly pervasive and there are a lot of other survivors who also need their story to be told."
Olivia also hinted at a 'Shiny Happy People' follow-up.
Explaining how there was "certainly a lot more" to be said, Olivia seemed to send fans a message that she wasn't through airing the Duggar family dirty laundry.
"And I think, too, where we land, the last episode is a jumping-off point for this larger political conversation, is also something that is of interest of further exploring," she added.

Viewers will hear from IBLP members as well as some of the Duggars themselves.
Jill Duggar and husband Derick Dillard appear in the trailer for the series, as well as cousin Amy Duggar. Although Olivia said Jill eventually warmed up to telling her side of the story, she was initially "hesitant" to speak out against her cult-like upbringing.
With all the horrors Olivia and Julia have hinted at discovering, we can certainly understand why!
Shiny Happy People hits Amazon Prime Video on June 2.
