Katy Perry Dishes on ‘Sober Pact’ With Fiancé Orlando Bloom

Anything worth doing is worth doing with your partner — at least, that seems to be Katy Perry's philosophy. She and fiancé Orlando Bloom have taken a "sober pact" together, and now she's explaining why they've taken a step back from alcohol consumption as a couple — and why their approach is working so well.

Recently, Katy launched her own line of sparkling apéritifs.

These drinks have no alcohol, and it seems that creating the De Soi brand sparked a bit of a life change in Katy. She and Orlando took a pact of sobriety for three months back in March, though in the beginning, she did admit to her fellow American Idol judges that she was ready to quit.

But now, it sounds like something has changed since then!

She saw their sober pact as a lifestyle reset.

According to what Katy told People, she now sees her three months of sobriety as a positive thing.

"For me, it was an opportunity to reset. We reset after President's Day, and it was a great opportunity to just let my body bounce back a little bit," she said. "I've had a pretty good relationship with just finding balance."

She and Orlando stayed sober together.

And for her that was the easiest way to stay accountable.

"We did this because he's shooting a movie in London right now that's taking every ounce of his focus, and so I wanted that opportunity to be supportive," she said. "It's really hard to do anything, whether that's doing a cleanse or a reset, unless your partner's doing it. So, doing it together makes it so much easier."

She's continued to avoid drinking on weeknights.

That doesn't mean she's given up on drinking altogether, though; Katy admitted that she does "indulge a little bit" on weekends.

Still, she's grateful for the time she spent totally sober.

"I love to have my reset moments, especially being 38, balancing the intensity of my career and having a toddler who loves to run," she said.

Good for Katy and Orlando for trying something new.

It can be hard for people to break habits they're used to being in, so good for them for being able to keep their end of the bargain they made with each other. There's no doubt that resets like this can be good for everyone, and not just when it comes to things we consume like alcohol — whether they're long term or a short break.
