Kelly Clarkson’s Ex Outed for Scamming Her Out of Money, Now Ordered To Pay Her $2.6M

Though Kelly Clarkson's divorce from Brandon Blackstock was finalized last year, the former couple is still hashing out some legal battles in court — including one that led to a decision very much in the Kelly Clarkson Show host's favor. Brandon once worked as Kelly's manager while they were still together, and now, a labor commissioner has ordered him to pay her millions in commissions he made from booking gigs for her that he never should have taken from her in the first place.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, a California labor commissioner has ordered Brandon to return $2,641,374 in commissions that never belonged to him in the first place.

Except for in very specific circumstances, managers are never supposed to take commissions from their clients — that's reserved for agents.

Brandon profited from some of Kelly's biggest deals.

TMZ reported that Brandon had his hand in Kelly's deals for The Voice, Norwegian Cruise Line, Wayfair, and hosting the Billboard Music Awards, and he made some pretty sweet money from it — at least, he thought he did. He took $1.98 million in erroneous commissions for Kelly's gig as a coach on The Voice, after all (and a surprisingly small $93.30 for the BBMAs).

Kelly didn't recover all the money she was hoping she would, though.

She wanted the money back that Brandon earned for helping her negotiate The Kelly Clarkson Show — which makes sense, considering what a huge success it's been so far — but the labor commissioner allowed Brandon to keep that slice of the profits.

Brandon's not the only one who has had to shell out cash during this divorce, either.

As part of their settlement, Kelly was required to pay Brandon a one-time $1.32 million payment, along with $45k in child support because they share two children, River Rose, 9, and Remington Alexander, 7. Kelly also has been paying her ex $115k in spousal support payments each month, though unless something has changed, that arrangement will end January 31, 2024.

Brandon plans to appeal the labor commissioner's decision, TMZ has reported, so it appears he and Kelly will continue to duke things out in court for at least a little while longer.

Here's hoping that they're both able to move on and find some closure soon.
