Bridezilla Who Demanded Cash Instead of Gifts Is Bashing Guests Who Ignored Her ‘Rule’

Bringing a gift to a wedding is a nice gesture that's typically expected and appreciated. But for one bride online, it seems as if a new coffeemaker or blender simply isn't enough. The anonymous woman wrote in to Reddit fuming that none of the guests that she invited to her engagement party brought her cash as a present, despite that fact that she "specified on the invitation that we were requesting cash only." Now, the bride is majorly concerned that her request for cash gifts won't be honored at her upcoming wedding, but the Internet is giving her some serious side-eye.

The drama started when the bride started complaining online about how most of her guests gifted her with presents -- instead of cash.

In a thread on Reddit, the bride posted a fuming message explaining that because she and her fiancé "have a mountain of debt," she was hoping that her engagement party would be the perfect opportunity to recoup their losses. Which is exactly why she "specified on the invitation" her wishes for only cash.

"Well, the party was last night and not one person brought us cash," she continued. "They all brought small gifts that serve no purpose to us and it was hard for me to mask my irritation."

The next day she "sent out a mass text" to her closest friends expressing her disappointment and now she's shocked that her friends and family that even bothered to respond were "rude" to her.

"I didn't get many responses, but the responses I did get were pretty rude — which was shocking to me. I have been dreaming of my wedding day my entire life and you would think friends and loved-ones would want to help in making it perfect," she wrote. "I am thinking of disinviting those that responded rudely to me, but also I could give them another chance."

And her version of graciously giving a second chance is reiterating "that cash is expected and not gifts and any gifts will be returned for cash or sold on eBay."

"What do you guys think?" she asked.

People online seemed to be in agreement -- this bride was acting insanely entitled.

Yes, cash can certainly come in handy after major wedding-planning expenses. But this bride wasn't just hoping for it — she simply expected it and wasn't grateful for anything else.

"I am hurt, bewildered, angry, and irritated," she wrote.

"Nobody owes you anything," one person told her.

And someone else reminded her that not everyone can afford to give a cash gift.

"Sending a mass [text] demanding cash comes off as ungrateful and rude," they added.

"It is not the responsibility of your friends and family to bail you out with their 'gifts' so you can have a wedding," another person advised.

We can only guess that because this woman was so embarrassed by the reaction she received online, that she's since decided to delete her Reddit account. But let's hope she's learned a valuable lesson that weddings aren't meant to be a way to make a quick buck.
