Is there anything better than visiting your childhood home and finding your parents held on to a few of your things for decades? Maybe your favorite toy or blanket is still in your childhood bedroom, or your prom dress hangs in the closet. If you’re really lucky, your parents might have a tote or two in the basement filled with treasures. One Michigan family did something even better for their daughter, who grew up in the 1980s. When she moved out, they didn’t’ change a thing. And it is a glorious time capsule.
Her sister, who posts on TikTok as @treevibenana, treated the world to a time capsule bedroom, and people can’t get enough. We’re talking walls covered in hair band posters, books, toys on the shelves, and even an empty glass Coca-Cola bottle. We can almost smell it, and we want to live there forever. So do millions of other people.

The video went insanely viral.
Because why wouldn’t it? Sure, we see Jon Bon Jovi occasionally and he still looks and sounds great, but nothing will beat those early days in the 1980s when he and the guys were truly Livin’ on a Prayer.
But it’s not just the hair bands; this girl loved everything about the 1980s. Johnny Depp has several pictures on the wall alongside Richard Marx and Don Johnson from his Miami Vice days. It is a nostalgia overload.
The view shocked the sister.
The original poster of the TikTok, which has 5.5 million views, says, “Oh my gosh. They kept everything up. I love this so much.” She wasn’t the only one. This bedroom made so many Gen Xers feel right at home. It was the dose of nostalgia people needed.
This person is spot on: “The only thing that would make this better would be if she had a waterbed.”
One fan wrote, “As a teen in the late 80s-early 90s I can confirm this was most teenage girl’s bedrooms. My parents wouldn’t let me cover the walls completely but most of my friends had this… also lol whitesnake!“
Another person made a sweet observation and wrote, “It’s a flex when you been in the same home as a kid. I will always envy that kind of stability.”

People loved it.
One person noticed the room may also be used for storage now, writing, “The best part of this video is that there is now a walker and a cane in said time capsule.”
The TikTok creator responded, “Right?! Fitting for certain!!!”
This fan thought the room had potential, suggesting, “This is more than just a bedroom, this is a museum exhibit.” As did this person who commented, “This needs to be an AirBnB. I would rent it.”
There's more.
The woman posted a second video with more nostalgia. Her parents also kept her sister’s Trapper Keeper, folders, and Cabbage Patch Kid with the original birth certificate. She was the proud parent of Gail Irene, born on November 1.
Seriously, we can’t! It’s too incredible.
This fan summed up what many people thought: “I would love her bedroom today IT’S AWESOME.“
We are so glad we got to see this. It brought back such great core memories. Now, we probably need to go apply some eye cream. IYKYK.
