Man Beat Pregnant Girlfriend ‘Until She Quit Breathing’ Then Called 911 To Confess With Toddler in Tow

A West Virginia man is facing charges of attempted murder and more, after severely beating his pregnant girlfriend. Logan Willis beat the woman so severely he was convinced he had killed her. And after he allegedly disposed of the body, he called authorities to confess his crime. It isn’t common to call and confess your own crime, and not only did he do that, but he also allegedly did it with a small child in tow.

Jackson County Sheriff Ross Mellinger spoke with the media on June 6, 2025, after 21-year-old Logan Willis was arrested and arraigned. “He thought he had killed her and left her for dead. As a matter of a fact, when he called 911, that was one of the first things he said was, ‘you know I just had an altercation, I beat this girl and I think I killed her,’” Mellinger said, according to WSAZ.

“In his own words, he ‘beat her until she quit breathing,’” Mellinger added, WCHS reported. He also shared that Willis had the couple’s young child with him at a gas station when he confessed.

According to Mellinger, Willis told authorities he had dragged her lifeless body to a wooded area in Kenna, West Virginia. Willis then drove to a rural gas station, calling 911 to let police know what he had just done, WCHS reported. Authorities used a trail of blood to locate the woman’s body.

Whey found her, they realized she was still breathing. They also discovered that she was in the late stages of pregnancy.

The criminal complaint states that the woman, who has not been identified, “was observed to have numerous serious injuries consistent with a life-altering beating,” WSAZ reported.

She was taken to the hospital, where she was allegedly listed in “very critical condition,” Mellinger said. “It’s as much of an issue making sure the baby survives as her.”

Logan Willis was charged with attempt to commit felony murder, malicious wounding, and strangulation, per WCHS. He was being held at South Central Regional Jail on a $500,000 bond.
