Whitney Purvis, an alum from16 and Pregnant, has said that the father of her late son stopped her from attending their son’s funeral. She apparently hadn’t seen her son in six years. On June 2, 33-year-old Whitney announced that her 16-year-old son, Weston Gosa Jr., had died unexpectedly. Then, when she arrived at the funeral home for Weston Jr.’s funeral, she was allegedly turned away.
Whitney has said that her son’s father, Weston Gosa Sr., didn’t even have her on the guest list and told her that the funeral would start at 4 p.m. When she arrived, she says she was told that it had started at 2 p.m. Now, Weston Jr.’s stepmom, Amy Gosa, has come forward with her own allegations in attempt to explain what happened.
Amy claimed that Whitney hadn’t been in contact with her son in years.
In an interview with The U.S. Sun, Amy said that Whitney “is not the mom she plays on Facebook.” Based on Amy’s understanding of Whitney’s custody arrangement, Whitney “is allowed supervised visits.” However, she has allegedly never arranged them.
“We told her to set up a time at a supervision center, and she didn’t,” the stepmom claimed. “They eventually tried contacting us to tell her they’ve been trying to contact her but she wouldn’t answer their calls.”
According to her, Whitney hadn’t “even spoken to Lil Wes in six years.”
Amy denied barring Whitney from the funeral service.
During the interview, Amy also echoed Weston Sr.’s previous claims about what happened on the day of Weston Jr.’s funeral. Weston Sr. previously told TMZ that he invited Whitney to their son’s funeral and that she was on the guest list. He claimed that the funeral service started at 4 p.m. and Whitney arrived after 4:15 p.m.
Amy alleged that Whitney arrived “at around 4:30” and “the doors were locked for the service since it was private.” According to Amy, she and Weston Sr. tried to make it easy for Whitney to attend the funeral by telling her she could arrive early. Additionally, she said they “prolonged the service as long as we could hoping she’d show up.”
Amy said she and Weston Sr. are grieving — but so is Whitney.
The stepmom told The U.S. Sun that Whitney’s interviews with the media are making it harder for their family to grieve. “It’s painful enough as it is,” she said. “We lost a piece of our family, our daily life and she just won’t stop. It’s hurtful.”
At the same time, TMZ reported that Whitney was “devastated” after missing her son’s funeral. In an emotional Facebook post shared on June 20, Whitney accused Amy and Weston Sr. of taking “this opportunity to make me suffer even more.”
She said they told her the funeral was at 4 p.m. and she wasn’t even on the guest list. She described her relationship with Weston Sr. as “horrible.”
“They tried to spin it around and say I was 2 hours late to his funeral and i knew it was at two,” Whitney wrote on Facebook. “Like come the hell on, I would never!! Use your brain! Who would come 2 hrs late. I was told four! Why would I tell everyone to come at 4? The truth is he didn’t want me there or my family and friends.”
In the post, Whitney detailed the alleged tactics Weston Sr. used to keep her away from her kids. “I’m not saying I was the perfect parent by any means cause who is?” she wrote. “But I know I didn’t deserve all this and neither did my kids.”
She added that she is currently “grieving,” which makes Weston Sr.’s actions feel especially “sickening and pure evil.”
