An Alabama teacher was arrested after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a minor student. Sarah Huggins Logan was formerly employed at a K5-12 Christian school, and her firing may have been related to the incident. Few details are available because the alleged victim is a minor. Police have not shared when the alleged relationship took place or what grade Logan taught. For now, the investigation remains ongoing and investigators havenât ruled out the possibility there may be more victims.
On July 18, North River Christian Academy in Tuscaloosa posted a statement on its Facebook page about the incident. âWe were made aware of the allegation earlier in the week and notified the appropriate state and local authorities,â the school explained.
âOur first concern is for the health and welfare of our students, staff, and families. Please respect the privacy of all these parties,â the school implored. âContributing to rumors and suspicions profits no one and contributes only to the hardships experienced by those impacted.â
Captain Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit confirmed that Sarah Huggins Logan has now been charged with one count of being a school employee engaging in a sex act. The Tuscaloosa News reported she was taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail.Â

On July 16, a report was made to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriffâs Office. Parents of a student at North River reported that their daughter, a minor, had been involved in a sexual relationship with a teacher. Since then, the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit’s Sexual Assault Section has taken over the investigation.
After an investigation, a warrant was issued for Loganâs arrest. According to Kennedy, the school is cooperating, and there is a possibility of additional victims. Sarah Huggins Logan is now no longer employed at North River Christian Academy.Â
âIt should be self-evident to say that this incident is heart rending for all involved. This includes especially the families directly impacted,â the school said in its statement. âWe, the Charger Family, will weather this storm together.â
The investigation is ongoing.
