Kody Brown’s New Reality TV Gig Might Actually Break Him & That’s the Point

Kody Brown just announced that he’s set to appear on another reality TV show, but Sister Wives fans don’t seem overly excited about it. On August 6, 2025, Fox announced that Kody Brown is one of 18 stars who will compete on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test season four. The intense show, which will premiere on Thursday, September 25, pushes its stars to try real-life Special Forces challenges.

In an Instagram post announcing his involvement in the show, Kody hinted at the competition’s intensity. “This was the most exciting experience of an age! Tune in and watch me and my peers suffer!” Kody captioned an Instagram Reel promoting the show.

He also urged fans to watch to see him cry. “Wanna see me cry? No … like full on sobbing!” he added. However, fans in the comments didn’t seem to care. Several people pointed out that they’ve already seen Kody sob on TV. “We watched you cry for 16 seasons of Sister Wives,” one fan commented. “I’ll pass.”

Another critic noted that Kody seemed “desperate for attention,” while someone else predicted that “he will be the first one gone.”

Prior to announcing his role on the show, Kody hadn’t posted on Instagram in over a year. In the comments, many Sister Wives viewers called Kody out for some of the controversial choices he made on the show — namely, his decision to not travel to New Jersey with his then-wife Christine Brown and their daughter Ysabel when Ysabel needed surgery.

“So you can go on a reality show for weeks at a time, but you couldn’t go to your daughter‘s life altering surgery? Got it,” one person commented on Kody’s recent post. Many others called him out for the same reason, with one of them sarcastically dubbing Kody “father of the year.”

People have strong feelings about Kody after watching him on Sister Wives over the past 15 years. The TLC show premiered in September 2010. Viewers eventually saw three of Kody’s wives leave their plural marriage, causing the show to stray away from its original premise.
