Heart-Pounding Video Shows 12-Year-Old Boy Being Attacked by Leopard While on Jeep Safari

A 12-year-old boy was recently attacked by a leopard during a jeep safari in India, leaving the child with “deep gashes.” The incident was captured on video at Bannerghatta Biological Park in Bangalore, India, on August 15, 2025. The clip shows a leopard resting by the road as a vehicle on the safari stops so its passengers can watch the large cat.

Once the bus starts moving forward, the leopard charges it, jumping onto the side of the vehicle and clawing a boy’s hand. After the wild cat returns to the ground, the bus speeds off, but the leopard kept pursuing it.

Identified as Suhas, the boy injured in the attack reportedly suffered “deep gashes” to one of his hands, according to India Today. Suhas reportedly received first aid and was taken to a hospital, the Associated Press reported, per People. He has since been discharged.

“A 12-year-old boy was injured during a non-AC bus safari inside the leopard safari zone,” Bannerghatta Biological Park executive director Surya Sen told India Today. “The leopard, while climbing up the bus, clawed the boy’s hand, which was in an accessible place. He was given first aid and checked for further injuries.”

All parks should have mesh installed on their safari vehicle windows and camera openings, Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment Eshwar B. Khandre told the Deccan Herald. Khandre also ordered more detailed warnings on tickets for safaris.

Meanwhile, Bannerghatta Biological Park authorities told the news outlet that all mesh openings had been covered and safari bus drivers were given “strict safety instructions,” per the Deccan Herald.

In 2024, video footage of a similar incident showed a leopard leaping into the side of a safari vehicle at the same park. The animal looked into a window before trying to climb on top of the bus and then running off into the wild.
