A Florida woman is facing serious charges after a baby in her care was allegedly poisoned. Anna Adamo, who works primarily as a babysitter, was reportedly the only person around the baby while he was in her care. Although he was fine when he was dropped off at her home, his family noticed something off about him at pickup time. And then he became seriously ill, throwing up an unknown substance. After he nearly died, doctors discovered he had been poisoned. All signs pointed to Adamo, and this may not have been the first time.
According to online court records reviewed by People, the 59-year-old was arrested in Georgia in early October. Adamo was extradited back to Florida, where she was arrested on October 11, 2025. She was charged with first-degree attempted murder, aggravated child abuse – aggravated battery, and poison food, water, medicine w/intent to kill or injure. She was released on a $600,000 bond on October 15.
The charges come from accusations that Adamo poisoned an 11-month-old boy in her care on February 12. He was dropped off at her home around 9:30 a.m. in “perfect health,” a probable cause affidavit reviewed by the magazine alleged. Some time later, he was found to be “suffering from the effects of Ethylene Glycol (antifreeze) poisoning, as diagnosed by doctors.”
The alleged poisoning was noticed by the boy’s grandmother when she picked him up from Adamo’s house. He was more lethargic and “floppy” than usual, his mother observed. She said something about him “didn’t seem right,” People reported. When the little one began throwing up “clear, sticky, odd-smelling” vomit, she became concerned and took him to an emergency room.
Because of the effects of the poisoning, the boy went into full cardiac arrest. He required CPR and life support and was sent to three hospitals.
Adamo told police that the boy was only ever in her care and was never in the garage where she kept the antifreeze.

This isn’t the first time a child in the care of Adamo has allegedly been poisoned, according to a report from WPBF. Records from the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office show she also was questioned in 2014 after a 6-month-old in her care was taken to the hospital for being lethargic.
At first, it seemed to doctors that the baby could have been poisoned with a household cleaner or antifreeze. Tests later showed the baby had tested positive for a substance found in antifreeze. Even though the child’s doctor filed reports with the Department of Children and Families and the sheriff’s office, Adamo was never charged.
But it’s not just the kids who she’s paid to watch that Adamo allegedly has abused. Her son Aiden Adamo spoke with CBS 12, telling the news outlet about the years of abuse he suffered at the hands of his mother.
“Everyday I woke up between the ages of 11 and 14 just dreading the day ahead, terrified of this woman and just so beyond frustrated that no one would listen to me,” he said.
His mother allegedly planted knives, lighters and even razor blades on the boy when he was about 10 or 11. This caused him to be hospitalized, forced into involuntary therapy and wrongfully arrested. Now that his mother has been arrested, Aiden feels joy.
“She’s in a position where she can no longer harm children,” he said, per CBS 12.
