On multiple occasions, people have had questions about the clothing and accessories Kim Kardashian lets her 12-year-old daughter, North West, wear. It’s not unusual for tweens and teens to want to experiment with fashion, and the fact that Kim seems to let North do that is not necessarily a bad thing. At the same time, certain outfits North has worn have raised questions about Kim’s parenting. Most recently, North took to TikTok to show off her septum piercing, blue contacts, and face tattoos.
North shared several videos of the bold look on TikTok.

In the videos, she sported blue contacts, face tattoos, black teeth, and an apparent septum piercing. Luckily, her caption made it clear that the piercing and tattoos were not real. “Fake piercings and fake tatts 4 life,” she captioned one of her posts.
Recently, fans noticed that when North traveled to Rome with her mom, it looked like she had a dermal piercing on her middle finger. While North’s TikTok suggested that her septum piercing was fake, Kardashians fans assumed the dermal piercing was real and were absolutely disgusted by it.
People immediately started criticizing Kim.
On Reddit, critics said they had “no words.” While they could understand letting tweens express their personality through fashion, they thought some of North’s fashion choices were completely inappropriate for her age. One aspect of her outfit that stood out during their Rome trip was a corset.
In photos taken during their trip, North wore a black and blue skirt, knee-high boots, and a black corset. Even to fans who normally have no issues with the way Kim lets her daughter dress, the outfit did not seem the slightest bit age-appropriate.
“I really try to not comment much but as a mom of two girls, wow,” one mom on Reddit wrote. “I don’t expect much of the Kardashians but North is 12!!!”
Another person commented, “Extremely inappropriate for a 12yo, & I’m no prude! It’s not ok.”
‘What in the world is Kim thinking?!?!’
Understandably, people failed to comprehend why Kim would think the outfit was appropriate for a 12-year-old. After all, playing dress-up at home is one thing, but going out in public and posting on TikTok is something else entirely. “I’m 100% for letting kids express themselves through their clothes but allowing this at 12 is something else,” one critic wrote. “My daughter is the same age… still playing with Barbies, railing against growing up, and wearing character shirts. This is shocking.”
Another person said they’re “heeeavily side eyeing Kim” because they have a 12-year-old niece who wants to dress in the same way that North does. “We don’t let her because she’s 12 and doesn’t get to make those sort of choices yet,” they explained.
