Nick & Natalie Viall Accused of ‘Mom-Shaming’ Whitney Leavitt for Her Career Ambitions

With her time competing on Dancing With the Stars now behind her, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Whitney Leavitt is off to her next adventure: playing Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway. But as excited as Whitney is for this dream to come true, others are giving her a bit of side-eye, including former Bachelor Nick Viall and his wife, Natalie, who didn’t hold back when it came to how they feel about Whitney leaving her children to be in the show.

Nick and Natalie addressed Whitney’s new gig on their podcast.

TikToker @stephwithdadeets shared a clip from Nick’s podcast, The Viall Files, that showed him and his wife Natalie discussing Whitney’s turn on Broadway. The reality star is set to take the stage in Chicago starting in February 2026. Her performance is a six-week limited engagement, but New York City is far away from her home base in Utah — something that seemed troubling to Nick and Natalie.

While Nick was the first to question whether or not Whitney can actually sing, Natalie was more focused on the idea that she’d be leaving her three kids behind after spending months on DWTS.

“Right now, her career has skyrocketed. She just did Dancing With the Stars for what, three or four months? And then she has kids on a school level — maybe they’re homeschooled, I don’t know — but to be in L.A. for four months and to now shift to New York City doing Chicago, that takes so much of her time,” Natalie said. “How is she prioritizing being a mom and her kids who I imagine have some sort of schedule and routine.”

Commenters immediately called them out for mom-shaming.

People weren’t shy about pointing out the double standard that exists here, along with the fact that her husband, Connor, is a stay at home dad, so it’s likely he’ll be with the kids while Mom is gone.

“It’s almost like she has a supportive partner who is an equal parent,” one person wrote.

Another added, “How does any working mom do it Natalie?”

Nick and Whitney have butted heads before in the past.

Some of the commenters thought that Nick and Natalie were judging Whitney because Nick wasn’t asked back to host the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives reunion after he and Whitney butted heads last time.

They ended up in a bit of a confrontation while talking about drama between the cast members. “Personally, I feel like I’ve heard Taylor [Frankie Paul] taking accountability for a lot of things. She does a lot of things, too. I don’t think I’ve heard you take accountability from what I’ve seen,” Nick said to Whitney.

At the time, she was taken aback, and said she felt like she was being held to a “double standard.”

If Whitney can make her Broadway dreams come true, why shouldn’t she go for it? Her kids will have their dad — isn’t he their parent, too?
