What to Know
As long as Karoline Leavitt supports everything Donald Trump does, her critics will be ready with insults about the vast age difference between her and her husband, and that’s just the way it is. Leavitt and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, have a more than 30-year age gap. They also have one kid together and expecting their second child. As far as some are concerned, it’s not a cute look every time they enter a room together, hand in hand.
In fact, according to one user on X (formerly Twitter), Leavitt and her husband look more like a granddaughter with her grandpa. I’m sure she has heard it all at this point, but people are still making jokes about that age difference, and not much will stand in their way of taking the jabs any way they can across social media platforms.
Karoline Leavitt’s husband’s age will never not be a topic for her critics, so there’s that.

When Leavitt and Riccio arrived at Mar-a-Lago for a wedding at the end of January 2026, it was more fodder for those who cannot and, frankly, will not get over the couple’s age difference. He’s older than her mother, for crying out loud. The user on X shared a photo of the pair and wrote, “White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt with her grandfather at Mar-a-Lago this past weekend.”
Someone else joked, in response to the X post, “Stop spreading misinformation! That’s her dad, not her grandfather.”
Leavitt’s actual dad is just a few years older than her husband. So, if we’re looking at their ages for any indication, it’s easy to mix them up. Someone else in the thread on X edited the photo of the couple to put Leavitt’s husband in a motorized wheelchair, which, some believe, is age-appropriate for him. Unlike his bride.
OK, that might be a low blow, but hey, when it comes to Leavitt and her elderly husband, the jokes write themselves.
Other people responded to the X post to joke about Leavitt’s appearance and what they see as someone who looks much older than her own 28 years. If you split the difference between her husband’s actual age and Leavitt’s appearance, which, according to some, looks at least 10 years older, then maybe the age gap isn’t that bad.
Of course, the age gap itself wouldn’t make Leavitt such a target if she didn’t tout “your mama” jokes at journalists and follow Trump regardless of his decisions for the United States. But, alas, here we are.
Given that Leavitt brought her husband to Mar-a-Lago, someone else added in the thread, “I guess it is bring your grandparents to work day then. How sweet! We don’t have anything like that.”
And no, the jokes about Leavitt’s husband’s advanced age aren’t going anywhere.
