When it comes to the Duggars, grifters come in all shapes and sizes. Because, per rumors about Kendra Duggar and Joseph Duggar amid their individual arrests and respective charges, Kendra’s family is now on the outs in a big way. So much so that Kendra’s parents started a GoFundMe according to multiple outlets, including Parade. But why would they need a GoFundMe and how does it play into what is happening with Joe and Kendra? According to some, it’s a big part of the ongoing puzzle with these former reality TV stars.
From rumors about issues between Kendra’s dad Paul Caldwell and Joseph’s dad Jim Bob Duggar, to Kendra actually mentioning her parents in a negative way while speaking to Joseph in a recorded call, there is clearly some bad blood. Kendra was once as close to her tight-knit family as Joseph is to his, but somewhere along the way, a chain of events caused major issues including a very public GoFundMe.

Not long after Paul started the GoFundMe, it was taken down. However, that wasn’t before people across multiple social media platforms took screenshots and made sure to get all of the details of the fundraiser recorded to spread the word. A Reddit post with a screenshot from the now-deleted GoFundMe listing shows Paul asking people for financial help for mysterious “legal fees” and “housing” needs, but he doesn’t mention what, exactly, he and his family need the money for. It appears to have nothing to do with helping Kendra with her legal troubles.
“My family is facing a difficult and urgent situation,” Paul wrote on the GoFundMe. “We are in need of support to cover legal fees and secure safe housing. This has been an incredibly stressful time, and we are doing everything we can to protect ourselves and move forward.”
Paul and his wife, Kendra’s mother, Christina Caldwell, have nine kids total. There are rumors that Kendra’s parents lived with their children in a home previously owned by Kendra and Joseph, but no one in the family has come out to confirm those rumors.
He explained, “The funds raised will go directly toward legal representation to help us navigate the challenges ahead, as well as finding a safe place to live. Both are essential for our well-being and peace of mind. We are grateful for any help, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing our story with others who might be able to support us. Thank you all so much for your care, concern, and prayers during this difficult time. We have set up this GoFundMe to help cover the unknown expenses of legal fees and housing. Anything you can do is a help — even if it’s just prayer. Your support means the world to us as we work to rebuild and find safety.”
They also have a Venmo that people have donated to.
According to the Without a Crystal Ball Instagram account, although the Caldwells’ GoFundMe was taken down, they are accepting donations on Venmo. The account shared a screenshot of Paul’s Venmo, and on the app, there are quite a few transactions that anyone can see, though the amount of each transfer is unclear.
Whatever is going on with Kendra and her parents, though, there does seem to be something brewing between them. On Christina and Paul’s shared Facebook account, they changed their cover photo to a picture of eight of their kids, minus Kendra, of course. Before that, they changed the photo to a family picture, but Kendra was missing from that one too.
There are rumors about bad blood with the Duggars.

According to some snarkers who prefer to follow the Duggars and Duggar-adjacent families out of curiosity rather than support, there is a history of issues between the Caldwells and the Duggars. In a Reddit thread about what happened, someone claimed that Paul and Christina rented a home from Jim Bob, but that they refused to pay rent. He allegedly evicted them, and they later moved into a home of Kendra and Joseph.
“Can you imagine a situation where your son’s father-in-law is added to your list of aging dependents looking for a weekly allowance?” Someone commented on the Reddit post. “Jim Bob is a jerk but this Caldwell guy is a mooch.”
Another person added, “It is my understanding that Paul worked for Jim Bob at some point as a mechanic. I’m willing to bet a significant amount that Paul was deeply underpaid and there was some serious wage and labor violations because that’s just JBs nature. Yeah he needs to provide for his family but I could see how that would make him feel entitled to live rent free at least for a period and I agree honestly and I can see how [Joseph and Kendra] would agree. The rest have no spine they don’t want their money trains cut off.”
However, now the theory is that Kendra and Joseph kicked her parents out of that home following the controversy related to Kendra and Joseph’s legal issues. In fact, in one of the released phone calls between Kendra and Joseph while Joseph was in jail in Arkansas, she can be heard giggling about getting her parents out of the house. To be fair, though, Kendra giggles about almost everything.
