What to Know
Some young Gen Z intern might be running the White House account on X (formerly Twitter), but the Trump Administration is still trying so hard to be that girl that most of the posts tend to fall flat. Such is the case when the account posted a faux lock screen from a phone with Donald Trump’s photo in the background and an alarm notification on top of the photo. The post urged people, presumably Americans, to follow Trump’s example and “lock in.”
But Trump’s critics replied to the post to share all of the reasons they would prefer Trump to lock in, including being locked up. Others criticized the president for all of the work he hasn’t done for the country, despite the post insinuating that Trump is locked in and making moves every day. It’s all just giving tryhard at this point, and people who are extremely anti-MAGA are going to make sure the White House knows it.
The White House post is trying hard to be relevant.
LOCKED IN MODE: ACTIVATED 🇺🇸🔥

It’s Monday. No excuses. Just wins. 🦅 pic.twitter.com/xdcyRjOBFb
The photo of Trump with what appears to be a lockscreen on a phone shows him at a UFC fight, which critics already slammed him for, given the state of the country. But the White House just had to add salt to the wounds of millions of people, because, why not? The White House wrote in the post with the photo, “LOCKED IN MODE: ACTIVATED. It’s Monday. No excuses. Just wins.” It sort of reads like an AI prompt, but OK.
But don’t worry, because the trolls and critics quickly slammed Trump in replies to the X post. Not only were they unimpressed with whoever came up with the idea to go hard with the “lock in” vibe of the post about Trump, but they came up with other clever things that they believe Trump would be locked in about other than, say, doing his job.
“Locked into cake, ice cream, and a Diet Coke maybe,” someone wrote on X.
Another user changed the “lock in” button on the faux homescreen screenshot to “bomb 170 Iranian school girls.”
“LOCKED IN? The only thing locked in is our f–king demise,” a user wrote. “Markets are hemorrhaging, gas is a goddamn luxury, and food prices are straight up theft. You cut 28k VA workers and gut Medicaid while posing like a hero? Stop the bulls–t. We aren’t f–king winning — we’re being bled dry.
“Locked into a retirement home?” Another suggested, seemingly hopefully. “Please don’t give me hope. I’m tired of these Jurassic era politicians.”
Trump can “lock in” by being “locked up,” according to some.
Other ways for Trump to be locked in, so to speak, is for him to be locked up, as in jail, according to some. Whether it be because of the Epstein files or just crimes against the country in general or serious assault crimes Trump has not answered for, people shared their thoughts on how best to have the president locked in.
“I’m locked in on you RELEASING THE EPSTEIN FILES!” An X user posted in response to the White House’s post.
Another shared an illustration of Trump behind bars and wrote, “Only lock in mode ‘WE THE PEOPLE’ desire.”
Someone also wrote, “If you mean, stuck with no way out, I would agree. You are locked in.”
At least it wasn’t another blatant AI post from the White House.

To be fair, the image of Trump in the fake lock screen picture on the White House’s post could be AI-generated. But at least, this time around, it’s not an entire Trump propaganda AI video. The bar is incredibly low. Instead, it’s a post that some 20-year-old intern probably made in an attempt to appeal to, well, someone outside of MAGA. The only issue is, at this point in the game, it doesn’t seem like MAGA is recruiting in high numbers.
