Just in case you were wanting to hear some encouraging words about a major age gap relationship in Hollywood straight from the source, Eileen Kelly recently wrote an essay for Vogue titled “My Boyfriend is Double My Age.”
After discussing some details about a friend’s seemingly immature relationship with a man her age, Eileen divulges that she told her friend that it may be time to date someone older because her “own boyfriend is more than twice [her] age, which is either alarming or impressive, depending on who you ask.” Well, that is quite an age difference, isn’t it?
The “Going Mental” podcast host divulged that this is her “first time dating someone significantly older, and sometimes [she jokes] with friends that [she’s] been missing out [her] whole life.” Eileen is just 30 years old while Anthony is 63.
She shared that she’s found some definite perks to dating someone significantly older, as Anthony has his “s— together” and “seems genuinely excited” to be with her, but she notes that not everyone can find the romance in it. “An older man is reflexively labeled ‘creepy’ and ‘gross,’ while the woman ‘must have daddy issues’ or must be a gold digger,” Eileen shared in her Vogue essay.
She does have a point. There’s certainly some alarm bells that immediately go off for some people when they see a man is dating a much younger woman.
Some people see two consenting adults and think nothing of it when it comes to relationships like these.
The comments section in this Reddit thread is actually very quick to come to this couple’s defense.
One person in the Reddit comments decided to put things super simply by sharing their perspective on their relationship, “Could just say “I like dating a rich hot rock star”. Understood babe. Do your thing.” Another person wrote, “Consenting adults can date whoever they want. Who cares?” It is true, though. If the couple appears to be in a healthy and consenting relationship and both parties are of legal age, what can you really say about it?
Another person alluded to the fact that Anthony may have a pattern of dating much younger women. “Let’s give him credit! 30 is probably the most age appropriate relationship he’s had in decades.”
One person in this Reddit thread is unsure about what’s really going on within this age gap relationship. “I checked her IG and she definitely leans into this kinda ‘young/innocent’ vibe. Not surprised AK is into that, he’s honestly pretty problematic,” they wrote.
There was a 2025 documentary about Anthony Kiedis and it took a look at some problematic behavior.
In 2025, Delinquent Films shared a 43 minute documentary titled Anthony Kiedis: The Cycle of Abuse on YouTube that took a look into the Red Hot Chili Peppers singer’s dark past, which has included disturbing allegations of sexual misconduct. In 1990, Anthony was actually charged with sexual battery and indecent exposure after a concert at George Mason University in Fairfax County, Virginia, the Los Angeles Times reported. This isn’t looking too good, is it?
In this Reddit thread, there’s also discussion about some things that Anthony admitted to in his book, Scar Tissue, which some people report included having sex with a 14-year-old girl. One person shared, “I started reading his book. Made it about half way before I gave up. I couldn’t stomach it, he seemed totally unapologetic for a lot of the despicable stuff.”
Another person in the Reddit thread doesn’t make excuses for this kind of behavior. “I used to love the band, but it’s impossible to ignore the many bad stories about them. Anthony is the worst offender and seems quite proud of the fact in his autobiography,” they wrote.
All of this kind of makes you look at his tendency to date much younger women, including his current girlfriend, a lot differently, doesn’t it?
