What to Know
A park in Minnesota took the phrase “big brother” to a whole other level that parents are pretty miffed about. A mom shared a video about it on TikTok which was then stitched by another user and posted on X (formerly Twitter) with more context and information. But the big takeaway is that a park called Central Park of Maple Grove with an attached splash pad was being filmed 24 hours a day and live streamed on the internet through a local news station.
If that sounds terribly icky and almost too wild to be true, it appears to be 100% accurate. In the video, the user who stitched the mom’s video explains how the park was streamed and what has happened since parents came forward to share that the revelation upset them. Because before the original TikTok video blew up, it looks like not many parents were aware of footage of their kids being livestreamed.
A mom shared a video with her concerns.

It’s called Central Park of Maple Grove in Minnesota
The camera is pointed directly at the splash pad where kids will be in their swimming suits

The mom shares in the video that she wanted to take her son to the splash pad which had recently opened up at the park. She went on its website for more information and that’s when she saw the live camera feed from the splash pad. Presumably, it’s so parents can see how busy or crowded the park is. But it’s also a feed that showed children in bathing suits.
“This camera is like directly at the splash pad so I can see all these kids playing and you can see the playground,” she says in the video. “And I guess I can understand it could be good if people are looking to see if it’s busy, but also I feel like, because now I’m a mom, I always think of the worst scenarios.”
The user who stitched the video explains that the camera is a “Fox weather camera.” And, it turns out, the camera was there for years before the mom made her video about it. He also confirms that the camera is “inactive” now. However, he notes how weird it was that the camera was ever live and directed right at the splash pad area.
There are mixed responses about the camera.

After the video was shared on X, other parents responded to it with their thoughts. While some agreed that it could be good as a safety measure, others argued against it for the same reason — the safety of their children.
“It depends on who owns the camera?” One user commented. “The cops then it would be prevention, if it’s a pedo then it’s for their viewing pleasure or possible victim.”
Another wrote, “It is in public? Would [you] rather have someone do something to a child and not have video of the incident?”
“She’s an imbecile,” someone else wrote, of the mom in the original video. “Those cameras are keeping the kids safe.”
However, another person added, “Why is a weather cam pointed at the splash pad?”
The local news later took down the feed.

The man who stitched the video that the woman posted also says in the video that he checked the Fox 9 website and that the news station took down its 24-hour feed from the park. There doesn’t seem to be a live video on the website anymore, or any link to one on another website. But the idea of this live video feed that anyone could see just by clicking around the Internet is uncomfortable enough for most to realize how the. Negative aspects far out weigh any potential benefits.
