There isn’t a world where Kim Kardashian could ever be considered hashtag relatable, but she can certainly try to make herself appear that way. When she appeared in an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast in October 2025, she seemed to make an effort to swing that way when she shared a story about being married to Kanye West and dealing with feeling “financially” unsafe.
But don’t get too excited that this reality TV star-turned mogul is just like us. Because, with a reported net worth of $2 billion, there’s little chance of her funds running so low that you find her shopping the bargain bin. Filthy rich people feeling financial woes or struggles are very different from what average, everyday people feel. But try telling Kim K that.
Kim Kardashian’s “financial” problems are not like everyone else’s financial problems.
During Kim’s interview on the Call Her Daddy episode, she explained her marriage to Kanye, how she still sees the good memories, and how she knew it was time to get out of the marriage and move on from him as her husband. They share four kids, who they co-parent together and share custody of. That’s all well and good, but the moment that continues to go viral is when Kim explained a financial issue she faced with Kanye’s impulses.
“Just not feeling safe, you know, not even physically, just like maybe emotionally or even, you know, financially,” Kim shared on the podcast, of being married to Kanye and dealing with his “episodes” during particularly difficult times. “I would, like, come home, and we had like five Lamborghinis and I’d come home and they’d all be gone if he was in an episode. And I’d be like, ‘Oh, wait. Where’s all our cars? Like, my new car?’ And it would be like, oh, he gave them away to all of his friends.”

After Kim appeared on the podcast and shared the story of the financial insecurity she faced because of Kanye’s mental health struggles, users on Reddit debated on whether or not to collectively feel sorry for the billionaire. On the one hand, some users argued, the Lamborghini story is part of a larger picture that is scaled up for Kim and Kanye, but one that others may be able to understand.
Then again, according to other users, it’s an out of touch story that still speaks to the wildly different types of challenges that Kim might face versus an average person whose spouse was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder.
“Her biggest complaint was giving away her possessions but not the Nazi sympathizing?” One user commented, in reference to Kanye’s documented antisemitic remarks.
Another person wrote, “I feel like there are plenty of examples that show his mental health issues that have nothing to do with money and they seem far more important or critical to people who have enough to buy their own private islands but sure.”

In 2020, Kim wrote about Kanye and his diagnosis in her Instagram Stories, according to E! News. She wrote that people don’t understand how hard it is on the individual and their family and friends. She also suggested giving grace “to the individuals who are living with it in times when they need it the most.”
Kanye revealed publicly in 2016 that he was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. He has since been open about his mental health struggles. In January 2026, the rapper wrote a long apology letter to the public that was published as an ad in the Wall Street Journal.
At the time, Kanye wrote, “In early 2025, I fell into a four-month long manic episode of psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior that destroyed my life. As the situation became increasingly unsustainable, there were times I didn’t want to be here anymore.”
