Jenelle Evans Slammed for Teen Son Jace’s Happy Birthday Post

Those who watched the Teen Mom franchise for years know enough about Jenelle Evans to know that, when it comes to men, she doesn’t make the best decisions. Yes, even when her children are involved. There are enough clips from the MTV franchise to prove that, and sometimes, Jenelle doesn’t make it any easier on herself with social media posts.

That’s what happened when she shared an Instagram post wishing 17-year-old son Jace Evans a happy birthday. But the fact that Jace is reportedly in a mental health facility for youth after allegations against step-dad David Eason, who Jenelle is reportedly reconciling with, does not look good for the mom of three. And the internet made sure she knows that.

Jenelle Evans’ birthday post for Jace Evans was poorly timed.

Jenelle posted a collection of photos of and with Jace on Instagram to wish him a happy birthday. She wrote in the caption that she “can’t believe” he is 17 years old. At face value, it’s pretty standard for a parent who wants to publicly wish their oldest kid a happy birthday. But with all of the alleged relationship issues Jace and Jenelle reportedly have, the post felt inauthentic to some of Jenelle’s haters.

“Being a teenager can be hard, but you seem to handle it well.,” Jenelle wrote in the caption. “You’re so smart, curious about life, and handsome. Hope today is everything you’ve wanted and more! I love you.”

According to ABC 4 News in Charleston, S.C., Jace was checked into a mental health facility after he reportedly pulled a gun on his grandmother, Jenelle’s mom, Barbara Evans. A month later, Jenelle shared on the La Femme Talk podcast that Jace had been sent to a “safe place” that offered him a “holistical” way to work on his mental health.

A TikTok user who shared a screenshot from Jenelle’s post says in her video that Jace was kicked out of the “troubled teens camp” he was originally staying at for work on himself. As of now, it’s unclear where Jace is, or what kind of mental health facility he may have been sent to. But he is not physically with Jenelle.

People are counting down until Jace Evans’ eighteenth birthday.

In the comments under the TikTok, users suggested that Jace might have been better off, had he been placed for adoption rather than raised by Barbara and still close to Jenelle, thus involved in “chaos” his entire life. Someone also pointed out the timing of Jenelle’s post about her son.

“A couple things about her post: 1) she had to be reminded by Reddit that it was his bday (posted this 30 mins after something was said there), 2) this photo is from his bday last year and 3) she never once actually wished him happy birthday,” they wrote.

“Jace has one year left until he can cut all ties with her and tell his story,” someone else commented. “I hope he destroys her.”

Another user agreed, “I have said it before and I’ll say it again. I can’t wait for Jace to write a tell-all book when he turns 18.”

Jace Evans said step-dad David Eason strangled him.

Although Jenelle has denied publicly that she and ex David are back together, there are some critics who believe she isn’t being totally honest. During an episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter that aired in 2024, Jenelle shared an update at the time about Jace and an alleged instance of abuse that happened at the hands of David.

“Jace was like, ‘David strangled me.’ And then Jace was allowed to come home, but there’s criminal charges on David for strangulation and child abuse,” she said at the time. “So then I was like, ‘David, he’s coming home and you’ve got to leave. I’m sorry.’ This was all a blessing in disguise because it put a no contact order between David and Jace.”
