The September cover of Vogue is currently getting a lot of scrutiny on social media. Featuring Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere, who are currently starring on the Ryan Murphy show The Shards, the cover are being dragged for lacking personality. In fashion, the September issue is the most important issue in the year, and many people feel the current cover doesn’t meet the standard. The seemingly bland cover only added fuel to the anti-nepo baby fire. And the criticism only got worse once people were reminded that Gerber and Gere’s parents, Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere, graced the magazine’s cover together over three decades ago.
Some people praised the choice, and appreciated the sentiment.

The X account Film Updates shared a side by side of the two covers, writing “Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere cover the latest issue of Vogue Magazine. 34 years after Kaia’s mother Cindy Crawford and Homer’s father Richard Gere covered Vogue.”
Crawford and Gere were featured on the cover of the magazine in November 1992, shortly after they were married.
One user wrote, “34 years apart, but the elegance remains…A true fashion family moment.”
Another agreed, writing “34 years later and the Vogue legacy is still going strong. What a full circle moment.”
“Full circle moment. The 90s power couple’s kids taking the same cover… iconic,” one person wrote.
“This is Talk about a full-circle moment! Legacy modeling at its absolute finest. More power to Kaia and Homer. The gene approves!”
Many users were far more skeptical.
“The lack of any charisma is crazy,” one person complained.
One user wrote “imagine getting outmugged by your parents…”
“Reheating your parents nachos and not even coming remotely close. Tragic.”
“Nepobabies who literally got on this cover because of who their parents are, described as ‘making their own way’ as the cover headline,” another user wrote.
“I find it comforting that sexual charisma can’t be passed down through genetics alone,” someone added.
“The complete loss of sauce compared to their parents omg.”
Others lamented the quality of the images, and blamed Vogue.
One person wrote, “the new one looks like a jcrew ad 🙄 if ur gonna have boring people on the cover, at least make it a cool photo. look at how rich the color is in the old one smh. september issue used to mean something 😂”
“Nepo babies aside- the style for the covers has gone soooo downhill!!! Where’s the color?? Where’s the emotion?? “Let’s just stand in front of a sterile green screen under some fluorescent lights” 😐😐😐
“The nostalgia script is glitched. The 1992 cover rendered a hot ‘lovers’ protocol, but the 2026 version shows a total role mismatch. Kaia is literally dominating the frame, locking his neck like a boss while Homer looks like a low-spec bodyguard making her look good. Totally different database setup,” someone wrote.
“So the parents are shot on location somewhere looking fabulous and the kids got some cheap studio with a generic grey backdrop. Sums up the industry now to be quite honest,” another user added.
