Aaron Carter’s 2-Year-Old Son Files Wrongful Death Suit Against Doctors & Pharmacies

Singer Aaron Carter tragically died in November 2022 after drowning in the bathtub at his home in California. Aaron had a known history of mental health and substance abuse issues, and his death, which was ruled accidental, was reportedly a direct result of those issues. He left behind a fiancée and a young son.

Now, his fiancée Melanie Martin, is filing a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of their almost 2-year-old son Princeton Lyric Carter, alleging that doctors and pharmacies played a role in Aaron’s death by prescribing him medications that would come in conflict with his substance abuse issues.

There's no word as to why it's being filed by Princeton and not an adult.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, doctors prescribed Aaron hydrocodone, oxycodone, and alprazolam without any sort of medical justification, and while knowing about his “mental health and psychiatric condition.”

The lawsuit, which is seeking unspecified damages, named Walgreens, among others, claiming that the specific drugs, as well as their quantities, should have been cause for alarm for the pharmacy.

Aaron died nearly a year ago, and his death was ruled an accident.

Aaron was found dead nearly a year ago in his home’s bathtub. The cause of death was ruled as accidental drowning after Aaron inhaled compressed difluoroethane, also known as huffing, and ingesting alprazolam, which is also known as Xanax.

An autopsy revealed that Aaron became “incapacitated while in the bathtub after he 'slipped under the water' and drowned due to the effects” of those substances, according to officials, reported the Daily Mail.

Per the Independent, Melanie had previously said that the autopsy results, which were released in April 2023, only left her with “more questions.”

The autopsy was performed the day after Aaron’s death, but was withheld for months due to the time it takes to run toxicology reports.

Aaron's mother doesn't believe the autopsy results either.

The Daily Mail reported that Aaron’s mother, Jane Carter, doesn’t believe that his death was the result of an overdose, but rather foul play. The outlet reported that Jane shared pictures of the bathtub her son died in, as well as his house in an attempt to get more attention shown to her theory.

The media outlet also claims that Jane and Melanie are trying to get police to investigate an alleged drug deal made by Aaron the night he died.

Two months after Aaron’s death, both Melanie and Jane spoke with TMZ, telling the outlet that they were told by police that there was no water in Aaron’s lungs, making death by drowning unlikely. This was before the toxicology report was released. According to the report, difluoroethane “can induce feelings of euphoria when inhaled.”

Melanie shared that she found an exchange between Aaron and an unidentified person where the person claimed Aaron owed $800 for an unidentified substance. While he claimed he no longer needed the substance, the person claimed he still owed the money. She believes that this led to Aaron’s death that same night.
