What to Know
With the release of the highly anticipated Wicked: For Good last month, Ariana Grande has been heaped with plenty of praise for her performance as Glinda… and plenty of unsolicited comments about the way her body has changed over the years.
The 32-year-old actress is well aware of what has been said about her weight online, and now, she’s issuing a message to those who have been talking about the way she looks by sharing what she’s already said about the topic before.
Ariana directed fans to an interview from 2024.

“Resharing this from last year ♡ as a loving reminder to all,” Ariana wrote alongside the video in a since-expired post on her Instagram Stories, as fans on X were able to capture.
In the interview, which originally took place in December 2024 and was for web series Oui Oui Baguette, Ariana is with costar Cynthia Erivo as she talks about the way spending so much of her life in the spotlight has affected her body image.
“I’ve been doing this in front of the public, and been a specimen in a petri-dish since I was 16 or 17,” she said. “So I have heard it all. I’ve heard every version of it, of what’s wrong with me. And then you fix it, and then it’s wrong for different reasons.”
She added, “It’s hard to protect yourself from that noise, and I think it’s something that is uncomfortable no matter what scale you’re experiencing it on.”
Over the years, she’s learned how to block the comments out.
“In today’s society, there is a comfortability that we shouldn’t have at all — commenting on others’ looks, appearance, what they think is going on behind the scenes, or health or how they present themselves,” she said.
And with how “dangerous” she said that can be, she’s found ways to block out the harmful “noise.”
“I think that I’m really lucky to have the support system that I have, and to just know and trust that I’m beautiful,” she said. “But I do know what the pressure of that noise feels like. It’s been a resident in my life since I was 17. And I just don’t invite it in anymore. It’s not welcome.”
This isn’t the first time Ariana has spoken out on this topic.

Back in April 2023, Ariana took to TikTok to respond to comments she’d seen online about her body and her health.
“The body that you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body,” Ariana said. “I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them, and eating poorly, and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy.”
“You never know what someone is going through, so even if you are coming from a loving place and a caring place, that person probably is working on it or has a support system that they are working on it with,” she continued.
The best policy is not to comment on anyone else’s body as a rule, because Ariana’s right — you never do know what someone might be going through behind the scenes.
