A clip from Beyoncé's concert film, Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, is going viral on social media following a behind-the-scenes moment when Beyoncé had to correct her daughter's behavior. And now, everyone is talking about it.
The scene happened months ago when the tour plans were being finalized.
In the clip, Blue Ivy joined her mom for a meeting with the tour team. They discussed the set list and debated which songs should be cut or added.
Of course, Blue Ivy had been with her mom for much of the tour, joining her onstage as a dancer for two songs. So, she had seen the show prep and had her own opinion on what the set list should look like.
She spoke up in the meeting, but it was the wrong time.
In the scene, Beyoncé is talking about potentially removing the song "Diva" from the list, shortening the show.
And Blue Ivy didn't think that was a good idea. So she interjected.
"You can't take away those songs," she said.
Beyoncé then responded to Blue Ivy's suggestion with a gentle correction.
"I appreciate your opinion, but you gotta calm down. You can't cut people [off]," Beyoncé told her daughter.
It was that line that people on social media picked out as something noteworthy.
Several people shared a clip of this scene.
Most of those video clips went viral on TikTok and X as people praised Beyoncé for her correction and reaffirmed Blue Ivy's right to speak up.
"People are upset that Beyoncé doesn't let Blue talk to her any kind of way," one person shared. "Ain't no Kardashian parenting in the Carter house."
"This is gentle parenting," someone else shared.
'See how Beyoncé used gentle parenting the correct way,' another viewer noted on X.
The commenter shared that this moment stood out because Beyoncé toed the line between encouraging your child to speak up and reminding her that there is a time, place, and tone she needs to keep front and center.
"Gentle parenting isn't letting your kids get away with murder like some of you," the X user continued.
And another person joked that Beyoncé is parenting like a millennial. "Beyoncé is an elder millennial raised by Boomers. It's giving gentle parenting with a dash of 'don't play with me,'" the person tweeted.
