Carrie Underwood’s Patriotic Message Triggered an Unexpected Wave of Criticism

Now that America’s 250th anniversary celebration is well underway — and we’re just days away from July 4 — some people are really getting into the spirit of the occasion. That includes Carrie Underwood, who took to Instagram to share a patriotic message. After all the MAGA allegations, it was a given that something like this was bound to bring her plenty of backlash, but it doesn’t seem like she was too worried about that when she posted this video.

Carrie took a moment to share how much she loves America.

Carrie shared a video she appears to have taken while driving down a road in her home state of Tennessee, showing a long fence lined with small American flags that seems to go on forever.

“I can’t believe I get to live here. Thank you, Lord,” Carrie wrote in her caption, adding the hashtags “#GodBlessAmerica #Grateful #TN.”

In the comments, the owners of the fence revealed themselves to be Semler Cattle Company, a farm in Franklin, Tennessee.

People were unamused by her display of patriotism.

At this point, many of the negative comments on Carrie’s post have been buried, but boy, were there a lot of them. According to TV Insider, she was hit with quite an onslaught of criticism for posting this video when the political situation in the United States has been rough for a lot of people during the second Trump presidency.

“Wow Americans sure know how to shove patriotism down your throat……. That’s a lot,” one person commented.

Another wrote, “Where is this?? Seems a bit much lol in any county the with any flag. Just my opinion.”

Even more people shared their guesses that Carrie is, in fact, a Trump voter, even though she’s never come out and confirmed as much herself. Well, not in those words, anyway.

Others came to her defense.

Once people caught wind that Carrie was getting hate for her patriotism, her fellow patriots showed up in force.

“How do people get confused over a post showing her loving our nation and patriotism?” one of her followers questioned. “This is NOT political and if it is that’s her right, just like it’s yours to not worry about others. God Bless America!!”

“Just read about all the backlash this post got,” one person wrote. “If you get offended by American flags hanging on a fence. You are free to go elsewhere. Every one has the capability to make something of their life. Maybe start with tolerance and kindness even to those you don’t agree with. Or continue to be hateful and miserable-your choice.”

Nobody should be too surprised that Carrie is proud to be an American — she was the artist performing at Trump’s second inauguration, after all.

But if she doesn’t want to alienate a big part of her fanbase, Carrie might want to learn how to read the room.
