We're dying to know what Travis Kelce thinks about this! Earlier this month, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker gave a commencement address at a liberal arts college that's going viral – and not in a good way. In the midst of a speech where he claimed women should be homemakers and spoke out against abortion, Pride Month, and a whole host of other topics, he quoted Taylor Swift along the way. Yep. We're just as confused as you are.

Harrison really came out swinging with this speech.
Although the NFL kicker has always been open about his conservative Christian beliefs, he took things to a new level when speaking to graduates at Benedictine College. It seemed as if he was using the speech as a platform to air his controversial convictions, speaking out on everything from the way the government handled the COVID-19 pandemic to "dangerous gender ideologies."
"Things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia as well as a growing support for degenerate cultural values and media all stem from the pervasiveness of disorder," he said.
A large part of his speech was dedicated to speaking out against women working outside of the home.
He even went so far as to say that "homemaker" is a woman's "most important title."
"Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world," Harrison said. "I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother."
Considering there were female graduates who had worked hard for their degrees and future careers at the ceremony, making this statement was certainly an interesting choice.
He even quoted Taylor Swift — another bold choice.

At one point in his speech, he quoted her song, "Bejeweled," saying, "As my teammate's girlfriend says, 'Familiarity breeds contempt.'"
There's so much wrong with this statement that it's hard to know exactly where to start. But calling Taylor — arguably the most famous woman (if not person) in the world right now — his "teammate's girlfriend" is a wild choice.
And then there's the fact that he missed the message of the entire song: Shining all on her own and not allowing anyone, men included, to put her in the metaphorical "basement."

The backlash against Harrison has been swift (pun intended).
"As a woman, does watching Harrison Butker get cooked online count as being in the kitchen?" one person tweeted.
One person made a very important point: "It’s probably worth mentioning that Harrison Butker’s mom is an accomplished physicist and not a woman who just 'stayed at home.'"
Even Flavor Flav, a noted Swiftie, got in on it, tweeting: "Sounds like some players 'need to stay in their lanes' and shouldn’t be giving commencement speeches."
Some are comparing his speech to the graduation speech that Taylor gave at New York University in 2022.
That includes one part of the speech that's all about making mistakes.
"In your life, you will inevitably misspeak, trust the wrong people, under-react, overreact, hurt the people who didn’t deserve it, overthink, not think at all, self sabotage, create a reality where only your experience exists, ruin perfectly good moments for yourself and others, deny any wrongdoing, not take the steps to make it right, feel very guilty, let the guilt eat at you, hit rock bottom, finally address the pain you caused, try to do better next time, rinse, repeat," Taylor said at the time.
Maybe it's time for Harrison to realize that the things he said in his speech are mistakes that it's time to apologize for?
