Chris Pratt has a question that a lot of parents have: When is it OK to get rid of your kids' sentimental stuff? This question is especially pressing for parents of adult children who have moved out. How do you decide what stays and goes? Do you make your kids decide what stays or goes, or do you just hold onto it forever and hope for the best? Granted, Chris and his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger are parents to preschoolers and still have some time before they have to seriously consider these things, but what happens when it’s your stuff and not your kids'?

His wife does seem to have a lot of childhood trophies.
Chris shared a group of photos on Instagram of Katherine holding up a bunch of her childhood trophies.
"Maria has been storing special items from Katherine’s childhood for years. Which is so very thoughtful," he wrote on the post, shouting out his mother-in-law Maria Shriver. "To see my darling wife beaming with sentiment as she opens these crates of meticulously organized keepsakes, remembering her cherished youth, makes me grateful for the efforts her folks put into archiving."
Chris managed to make some jokes about Katherine's abilities.

"I cannot say how proud I am of my wife for being a fourth grade problem solving superstar. There’s also a trophy for 'most improved two year old' in swim class. Wow!! Sorry to the other two year olds. You didn’t cut it. Move on. What’s that you say? She was the only two year old in swim class? I’m proud nonetheless," he joked.
He asked his followers: What do we do with these trophies once our kids get older?
"To pray one day that your children will look back on their childhood with glee is a blessing. It is the hope of parenthood," he mused.
"But real talk … once your kid goes through the stuff, is it okay to toss? I mean… do we need the 'I was on a sports team trophy?' Can they be donated? Repurposed? How many do we gotta keep?" he asked. "Is there a grading scale? Like, did you win? Were you a champion? Is there a specific sentimental connection? Help me out here. Do they go back in storage?"
Katherine and her mom hilariously voiced their opinions.
Katherine was quick to comment on her hubby’s post with a little light teasing.
"Feels like someone is a litttlllee bit jealous of my natural athleticism from birth and ability to solve problems," she replied.
"Omg I’m so happy here’s to story trophies and school work and dresses and party outfits i feel vindicated," Maria chimed in.

Based on his comments section, Chris isn't alone in this.
Many of his followers chimed in with their own opinions and experiences with this same situation.
"I’m the mom that saved a lot (not all) of my kids papers, trophies, drawings," one mom commented. "They went through them equally gleefully but threw away 75%. I was fine with that. I loved watching them go through it."
"The obvious answer is that they should go right next to your MTV movie awards and People’s Choice Awards … duh," someone suggested.
"Maria must be doing the 'you’re an adult now with your own house, so here’s your stuff' drop off," another person commented. "My mom just did this too … have no idea what to do with it but happy to have it??!"
