Critics Slam Joy-Anna Duggar for Letting Kids Ride in Shopping Cart Unsafely: ‘Very Dangerous’

Joy-Anna Duggar is certainly no stranger to criticism when it comes to her parenting decisions. That can be said about any of her sisters who are moms, too. This time around, she’s being called out for posting a video of her kids riding in a shopping cart “dangerously” while she was grocery shopping with all three of them in tow. More than one of her Instagram followers seems to be concerned for her children’s safety.

Joy-Anna shared a video about the challenges of grocery shopping with kids.

Anyone who has attempted to grocery shop with young kids knows it can leave you feeling like you just ran a marathon by the time you hit the checkout, and Joy is no different. Having 6-year-old Gideon, 4-year-old Evelyn, and 1-year-old Gunner along has to be a lot to juggle!

“Grocery shopping with kids can be challenging, but grocery shopping with kids close to nap time is just asking for it,” she wrote in her caption.

The video showed her kids riding in the shopping cart.

In each clip, Gideon is lying on the bottom of the cart, where larger items are usually placed. Meanwhile, Gunner and Evelyn are both standing up in the upper basket of the cart, dancing as Joy pushes it through the store.

Some commenters commiserated with her about the challenges of grocery shopping with young kiddos, but others weren’t amused at all.

More than one person commented about the way her kids were riding.

“Joy, I’m sorry but be careful with your little one in the Cart, it’s very dangerous, I had the bad experience with my little one, felt down, hit head, had a concussion,” one person wrote.

Another commenter shared, “Please don’t allow the kids to stand in the cart. One slip and they can break a bone or crack their head open even get a fracture in their skull. Make them sit down Please.”

“One time I accidentally gave my daughter a Walmart shopping cart wheel hair cut because she was riding on the bottom and got her hair tangled!” a third person warned.

Others came to Joy’s defense.

Plenty of fellow moms who have had to grocery shop with little ones before were happy to cheer her on – and to defend her against those who were calling out the unsafe behavior.

“I’m pretty sure Joy knows what she’s doing her first 2 are still alive!” one person wrote, while another added, “Happy to see another mom with a kid who loves to ride under the cart lolol.”

Obviously, Joy knows her kids best, but hopefully she doesn’t end up finding out the hard way that accidents can happen on the bottom of the cart!
